I was looking through the Myaviation database and I found this image of CN-RGA at Tokyo Haneda. It seems the 744 is in newer refined colours than it had been previously:

Quoting B742 (Thread starter): Where does the CN-RGA fly to? I've seen her in ORY, AMS and BRU quite often!
In January it is only flying MXP/CMN, ORY/RAK, CDG/RAK, CDG/CMN, and RAK/CMN. Not much flying at all during the week.

AF bought the aircraft so RAM would get a better price. LH does this too- it annoys Boeing, but they can't say anything as they don't want to upset AF/LH.

hehe, thats pretty neat! So I guess AF/LH has to keep the aircraft for a certain amount of time before they can "sell" it or how does that work?

Does RAM really warrant the use of a 747-400 on its European routes?
Great to see it in RAM colours! Does anybody know off hand the layout of this aircraft? If it is sold to AF first does AF fit the aircraft out and then pass it on to RAM? Do they go anywhere else apart from Europe with this plane?

I flew on it from JFK-CMN-JFK. Granted it was a couple of years ago, but it did not have a Air France interior. Standard Econ and marginal J and F. Although I think they may have dropped First Class now.
They also operated a 742 for many years that I believe was used primarily for Haj flights.
When they flew the 744 to JFK is only operated 3 or 4 times a week. Sat on the ground the rest of the week in Casablanca or occasional flights to Paris. Shame.
Correction, looking at the photo database these J seats look very similar to the AF old J seat. However I flew them in 1989 so things might have updated by then.

It has been repainted at Orly by Air France , about one month ago.
Yes probably , was at Tokyo for a Royal family flight.
Except Europe and Mideast , very difficult to see elsewhere.
Its future fate is obscur , but certainly will leave the fleet when all 787s will be delivered. In fact it is a too much capacity machine for RAM .

So AF ordered the aircraft and received it then immediately sold it to RAM?? any other airlines have this practice?? Maybe EK since they are getting a boatload of aircraft in the next few years I know FI lease some aircraft but anybody else?

Quoting B742 (Thread starter): BTW - Why did AF get rid of the 744, it was previously F-OGTG?
This aircraft was initially for Air France, as F-GITG.
It was never taken up to AF and went from Boeing factory straight to the Marana desert to be stored in January 1993.
Remember that at that time, AF was almost bankrupt and in a very bad situation.
F-GITG was finally dlivered to R.A.M as CN-RGA in October 1993.
Quoting Kahala777 (Reply 1): Could it be on "Royal" business in Japan, perhaps for the royal wedding?
This picture was taken last week.
