I am travelling with BA to LAN in Cyprus at the start of april on a cadet trip. I was wondering what aircraft to expect. Its the early morning flight out 0850 departure and the afternoon flight coming back. I've looked on the photo base and it says 763's and 320s. Can anyone confirm and if the 320's are they the ones flown by GB Airways. Cheers.

LHR flight is usually operated with a 767 and an A320 on the morning flight. A320s operated by GB have a G-T*** reg whereas the BA ones are G-E*** or G-B***.

As far as I kno the GB aircraft only fly to Paphos.

And its LCA not LAN

Only BA flies to Larnaca. GB airways flies to Paphos. And yes, BA usually uses B767 on flights to Larnaca and sometimes 757s.

Next flights : BRU-ZRH-CAI (LX)/ BRU-FCO-TLV (AZ)

I am suprised to hear that the 320 is sometimes used by BA LHR-LCA as I thought that route was usually a 767 and before that it was L1011 and 767. In fact, LCA was L1011 for many years and one of the last BA routes to see L1011 and was a mix of Tristar and 767.

I would have expected the 767 to be used perhaps alongside a 777.

Hmm I'm not so sure about the A320 either now, I was just going on the comment to this photo:

But upon checking the timetable it shows just a once daily 767 service.

Ba fly 767s to LCA - except for the GB Airways flights to PFO which use A320 series.

I would be very surprised if BA mainline used an A320 aircraft into LCA unless they plan to use one of the new A321s to replace 757s at less busy times of the year.

Just when I thought I could see light at the end of the tunnel, it was some B*****d with a torch bringing me more work

First B757 don't normally fly to LCA.
Second an A321 would very rarely operate on a B757 route. The B757 are all based at T1 and the A321 at T4. It is very rare for T4 a/c to operate on T1 routes. Yes I know it happens, In the last 10 years we have had 4 B777 and 1 B744 at ARN on T1 routes, and never an A321.

As a regular traveller on this route I can confirm:

Winter-time BA flies daily 767 LHR-LCA. This is the short-haul version. GB flies --3-5-7 LGW-PFO with a 32S (usually 320, occasionally 321) and --3---7 MAN-PFO again with a 32S.

Summer 05, in addition to the daily 767 at 8:50 there was an evening flight on -2-4567 with 32S, always a 320 as far as I could tell. This was definitely mainline. GB LGW-PFO flights were daily, often with a 321 and MAN-PFO were 3 weekly

For summer 06 crosswind is correct that those are the schedules at the moment. But last year's evening flights didn't get loaded until January or February last year so things might change again.

In the past BA did use 757s extensively on the route (as late as 03 or 02). In the mid 90s a 3-time weekly 777 was used as a stop-over to the then mainline operated THR flight but this flight only lasted a few seasons. I suspect BA might have been testing the Cyprus market's appetite for the long haul product.
