US Airways will apparently not be returning to La Romana this February. The flights, which were in the schedule until a week or two ago, have been pulled. LRM got great yields, but US had consistent trouble putting more than 40-50 pax on the plane, even after heavily promoting the destination. US had served LRM seasonally with one-to-two weekly flights since 12 December 2003.
La Romana will be the first Caribbean destination US Airways has discontinued due to poor demand. (US previously discontinued service to Grenada after Hurricane Ivan devastated the island.)
In the Dominican Republic, US will still serve Santo Domingo and Punta Cana. US offers year-round twice-daily FLL-SDQ service and weekly PHL-SDQ service. US offers between 5 and 14 weekly CLT-PUJ frequencies and between 2 and 9 weekly PHL-PUJ frequencies, depending on season, and will begin a seasonal weekly BOS-PUJ service on 7 January 2006. US also codeshares with Caribbean Sun on their SJU-STI service.
I'm the expert on here on two things, neither of which I care about much anymore.
