Very strange that this is the anniversary of that United 737 crash back in the 70's at Midway. Kinda like two flight 191's crashing, and also there have been multiple crashes on August 8th.

The UA bird didn't actually make it to the field, though, did it?

Just heard on the news that one person was killed in this accident after it was determined that the 737 hit a car in the intersection. The automobile is under the aircraft.

This is not the first time that an airline incident has happened at this intersection. I believe in 1952 a Braniff Convair crashed in the same intersection killing all aboard. It hit a gas station revolving sign at 55th & Central.

Haven't there been more than one aircraft crash on Halloween Oct 31?

Isn't that the day when Egypt Air crashed after taking off from JFK back in 1998?

In 1995 on Halloween that Eagle ATR crashed in Indiana on the way to ORD because of icing

I know a couple of ex-ATA 737 pilots. They used to say its "kind of scary" going in there in a 737, I wonder what the 757 guys musted felt like.

IIRC, it crashed a few blocks south of the airport on approach to Runway 31C (same runway WN 1248 overran yesterday)
