I had the opportunity to fly with one of my friends to Albany Internationaly Airport last Saturday night. So off we went at a 6:45p.m. from Lincoln Park Airport in N7362K a C-172XP that is on line at my flight school. We thought that the flight would take about 55 minutes.The flight was hazy to say the least and we had to descend from our cruising altitude of 7,500ft expeditiously due to high clouds. We contacted Albany approach and were able to fling our airplane at the runway. Once we landed (Runway 28?) we taxied to Signature (A high class FBO). Flight time of 65 minutes. While taxing we were able to get a wave from an American Eagle Express Saab 340 crew along with seeing up close and personal a Delta 727-200, Northwest DC-9, (2) U.S. Airways 737-400s and (2) Southwest 737s one -700 and one -300. Before heading to the restaurant of out choice we were able to see the 727 and DC-9 and out little Saab 340 friend from the other side of the glass. After a dinner of hot wings and nachos in the regular terminal we went for a little walk where we saw U.S. Airways 737-400s (3), Continental ERJ-145 and ATR-72 along with 2 Southwest 737s. One seemed to be a 737-700 while the other 2 were -300s. After our sight seeing we walked back to Signature to get our weather briefing and other information regarding our trip home to N07 (Lincoln Park) which would most likely take 1hr and 5 minutes. While out on the ramp doing our preflight, we were able to view a Delta 727-200 land and taxi by along with a Delta 737-200ADV and another 737 but I can't remember what airline!!! After taxing down to the run up area and preparing for takeoff on RW 19, we had to hold short for a Southwest 737-300 on short final. Caution wake turbulence as we taxied 7362K onto the runway. Instruments in the green and away we go. The flight back took 1hr 10 minutes with a cruising altitude of 4,500ft. Using the GPS sure does help. Basically a ho hum flight, keep it trimmed and on course. Other aircraft of noted interest at Albany were a Citation Excel and a Challenger 604. To bad Lincoln Park can't handle those!!
