Continental DC-10 In Problemas At Zrh?

Wathihng the live web cam of ZRH airport it seemed as if a Continental D-10 was in troubel. It didn't taxi on its own byt by a car and it was surrouned by cars from the fire brigade. Does anyone knows more about this. This happened around 9.40 am 27/6/2000.

9.51am The aircraft is parked at the pier but still has a car from the firebrigade behind him. Wonder what this could have been.

So far it seems everything is allright now with the aircraft. If anybody would have more news about what happened to the plabe, please let us know.

The flight CO 079 should depart in ZRH at 11.10am. Today the expected departure time is 5.30pm....

Sounds like either an engine failure, smoke somewhere, or hydraulic problems. All of the fire brigades are typical in the event of any type of possible emergency.

I have got to say that it was pretty cool to be able to report an aircraft failure right at the moment of it happening but not being at the airport but in Belgium. ling live the webcfams. But let us be happy everything went allright and no one was hurt. The fact that the aircraft will leave later prooves something was wrong. maybe hydraulic problems, maybe an engine. it is up to you guys overthere in Zurich to find it out for all of us.

The aircraft involved is N68065. Estimated departure time from ZRH is now 1830hrs. The exact nature of the problem is not indicated.

Actually here in ZRH we don't have any info about that.

That is a pitty, that you cannot obtain some more information. It musn't have been a major problem as the aircraft is already back in the air. Maybe some spotters who were there at the moment have got an idea about the real cause. It was, again, strange that I was able to follow it live. More airports should have a live web cam.

Just what kinds of trouble does CO have with their DC-10s that somehow relate to their age? Not many I presume. The DC-10, in relation to the percentage of the entire fleet still in service as opposed to those that have been scrapped or written off is impressive. About 9% of the fleet is out of service compare that to about 12% for the 747. Fewer DC-10s have been scrapped than any other of the 1st generation widebody aircraft.
