Nice! Congrats to Embraer and Saudi!

Not a big fan of the Legacy's livery there. But it's a nice plane nonetheless.

Cheers  Smile

Interesting to note the special titles in Arabic near the nose...I believe it says "Sixtieth Anniversary"...I could be wrong on the 60th part but I guess it could be as I think SV was created in 1945.

The E170 is really growing on me. It looks great in SV colours too.

Hoes anyone know roughly what the list price and up keep cost of an E170 is?

That SV E-170 looks great. It almost looks like one of their VIP aircraft! The E-170 is really becoming a successful aircraft for embraer.

The SV livery looks great on the E170. The E-Jets line seems to have a pretty bright future.

Is the Saudia-Embraer an ordinary Pax-plane or maybe only for VIP's?

Fantastic Big grin .
Great plane, and just right for SV's needs. And it looks good in their livery too!
Saudia ordered 15 of these beauties, they have them configured with 66 seats (6F 60Y), and will use them mainly on domestic routes. Although I think they might show up in some regional international destinations.

Obrigado (sp?) , Vector

Thanks for your post. Do you know if the E170 will replace existing aircraft in SV's fleet? Or maybe the order is just to fill-in in a rapidly expanding market? Your insights are appreciated!

Sincerely,

Scalebuilder

This type will be an addition to the current fleet. It is expected that SV will position the aircraft in Hail (OEHL) in the north and Abha (OEAB) in the south to serve as a feeder from the close-by domestic airports. Then passengers will board the bigger M90 to Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam. But as SV always do, they might change their plans without notice.

The E170 really looks nice with SV livery. Also notice how appropriately registered: HZ-AEA

I like the livery on the E170.... looks classy and stylish.....

Any news on when the two E170s will be delivered to TAME? I remember reading that they were schedule to be delivered in late August and in September, but now is almost January and no word on whether they were or are going to be delivered.... Heard some legal issue with the Ecuadorian gov was the problem, any update? I've seen pictures of one of the E170s and also looks great!

The E170 will allow Saudi to offer increased frequencies on regional flights in the Gulf and as far as Larnaca? these aircraft will allow them to serve more regional destinations. Good news.

I've heard the feeder idea has been shelved, so the E170s will be used as a replacement for the MD90 on thinner routes and also to increase frequency.

Hello HiJazzy,

Those guys at HQ change their plans everyday.
I hope they increase freq between Riyadh and Dammam as they have been running the M90 overbooked on this sector all the time, recently they have also cut down the number of flights.

They sure do Kilo Alpha,

As for adding frequency, I think that is part of the plan. The E170s will free up some M90s (not that aircraft availability is much of an issue for SV) to provide extra frequency.

Just found out that Embraer introduced some pics of the Saudi E170 as their "background" on their website's Commercial Jet section... they look awesome!

I really like SV's colour scheme and it looks really nice on the E170 (Almost as good as it looks on their 777's). However, spotting these planes with the desert in tha back must be difficult.

Curious fact: the Saudi E70s (at least the 2 first ones) are not being painted in the same hangar as all other E-jets. That's because a specialist has been brought to use Gold powder in the paint and he does all the paint job by himself in a special hangar. This is a 60th anniversary livery with gold in it  Wink
