I'll be flying from DUB-JFK on an Aer Lingus A330-300 in July and I was just wondering what the A330, in general, are like to fly in ?
Comfortable, Roomy......

Any more info on that ? You see I've never been on an Airbus widebody.

Hi Aer Lingus,

My last flight on an A330 was from Zurich to London with Swissair; it is a wonderful aircraft - a truly nice experience. You will like Aer Lingus also and the crews are always very nice. I flew with them quite recently and I can tell you their inflight service is very good. The A330-300 is used on the nonstop to DUB, but the 332 is used to SNN (to allow it to fit in with the LAX flights, which originate in SNN and fly via DUB).

Personally, and I really don't want to get into a 777 -v- 330/340 argument (because I really do like the 777), I think the Airbus cross section is more comfortable as 2-4-2. The inflight entertainment on the 330s is very good (notwithstanding the lack of PTVs on Aer Lingus) and all in all, you should be well satisfied. PLEASE let us know when you come back, how you found it!

I'll try my best when I come back to give an interesting Trip Report for all to enjoy ! Hopefully I'll be giving you a report "From the Cockpit" on T/O and Landing (Fingers crossed).

Martin

I have flown the Swissair A 330-200 about 12 times to NYC and back. I love the aircraft. It has become my favourite long-haul airliner. I am very excited on waiting for the SR A 340-600. As already somebody said the 2-4-2 seating in economy is unbeatable. But remember, space in the aircraft (e.g. legroom or seat with) depends on the airline and not on the aircraft.

Something else: Swissair has PTVs in economy, I don't know if Air Lingus has them too. This also does not depend on the aircraft but on the airline.

To Johan: Can you explain me why the A 330/340 should not be safe? They have a very good safty record and are flying for years. Please don't post so silly and untrue claims. Please stay with the topic, nowbody asked if you would fly on a A 330 ("risk your life"). The question was to people who know and have flown this airliner and what they think about it. By the way, when you speak about what real men do, become first an men.

Dear Johan a 777 has as many computers as an Airbus and also a fly by wire steering (not a side stick). By the way every combat aircraft is flown by fly by wire and the Concorde too. It is only very efficient, modern and SAFE. I really think you have no idea what are you speaking about.

ZRH, don't waste your time, he is impersonating the forum admin and just trying to stir it up - don't let him succeed.

No offence ZRH but the last two posts were a little off the topic.
Thanks for the A330 comment.
