Although I am excited about the new magazine, I am not too thrilled about the new name.

Well the old one wasn't working with their whole "US" image, although I agree they could have been a bit more creative with the new name

It's a lot better than "Attache", a word most commonly associated with influential, stuffy types. A more generic name will make it more appealing to everyone but the actual attache-case carrying folks.

To be clear, even though it's the same publisher, they're not just renaming the magazine. It's actually going to be a substantially different magazine.

I am not thrilled about the name, but I am definitely not thrilled about the change at all.

I don't follow. Attaché consistently won a number of awards for its content, winning one as recently as this month in fact. It was recognized as one of the premier in-flight magazines. I don't think that it needed fixing.

I'm the expert on here on two things, neither of which I care about much anymore.

Of course, those types are the ones that the advertisers are aiming for.

I guarantee you that the ad rates will suffer, at least initially, while the advertisers wait and see if the new magazine's content is able to attract the same quality of reader.

The Attaché was a very fine magazine indeed, and I can only hope for the best from the new one. It is going to be twice as big (200 pages) so hopefully they will only add good things to it. Although at the same time, you risk having a bunch of rubbish for the majority of the pages. I am going to have to wait to read the new one before I make up my mind.

For a while anyway, until the LCC-model really takes hold and fares begin to drop.

Well, they are an American carrier called "US" Airways, have American Flags plastered on their planes, yet have a magazine with a name that is blatantly of French origin...

Perhaps an alternate name could be "apple pie" or "baseball" as that might show their "American" brand more... Follow now?  Wink

Well, before Attache it was simply called USAir Magazine. Perhaps, as with the retrojet schemes to be unveiled, this is another way of exploring their roots.  wink

I do hope they get rid of their silly advertisements like the "I, Incorporated!" and the lunch dating service. Why can't we have real ads from real companies?

Freddie Laker ... May be at peace with his maker ... But he is a persona non grata ... with IATA
