Why would AA & DOT need to renew NRT-SJC?
AA is pretty much free to operate anywhere to Japan from any point in the US. Of course, NRT is heavily slot controlled, so subject to availability (which there is almost none).

This means absolutley nothing, and I fail to see why the airport is putting out a PR. Airlines renew route authorities all the time, even when they don't fly the route anymore.

I am not saying that AA is going to end SJC-NRT, I don't think they are, but the fact that they are renewing authority doesn't confirm they aren't going to.

Anyone know if they improved the immigrations area in SJC? I flew NRT-SJC a couple of years ago and you had to wait in the ramp in order to go to Immigrations (not that I was mad at being at the ramp next to a huge 777, but It was kinda hot and sunny)

Yes, there's a nice spiffy FIS facility now that is all indoors. I just went though it yesterday after coming in on the NRT-SJC flight.

We touched down at 9:30am, and I was in my wife's car heading home at 9:47am. What a deal!
