Apparently, all pilots at BA, and cabin crew, retire at age 55. That will change next October when a new EU directive comes into force. What the "new" retirement age will be remains to be seen. Could be 60, could be higher.(Telegraph)
At VS, pilot retirement age is 60.
I think 55 is quite "young", or is that a good thing? Article does say that a lot of X-BA pilots do take jobs with other airlines, notably VS & SQ, so I would imagine they don't want to retire that early. I know in the US the retirement for pilots is 60. But aren't a lot of pilots wanting to change that?
