Browsing thru cabin interior photos I notice AA 73-8's have ceiling monitors as opposed to the LCD monitors from the overhead bins. I thought this was an outdated configuration not to mention the weight differences. Sorting thru other pictures of other airline 737NG's I noticed all were LCD monitors.

Any reason AA would go with this option?

MAINTENANCE COST!!!!! There is more to go wrong with the PSU mounted LCD screens. The old style CRT's are interchangable with the 757's.

It does look wierd with the old style monitors installed in a new interior. But still better than NW with no domestic IFE  Wink.
