Just got back to my office after evacuation. It was a false alarm, a device that looked like a grenade was found in carry-on during screening and TSA evacuated the terminal only, not JFK. Once bomb squad checked it out, everyone was let back in.
no further info at this time other than that I am thawing out after being outside so long!

Yes it was a fake hand grenade. The whole terminal was evacuated to the front of the building for about an hour and a half. It caused a major headache for inbound flights. Coming in from Florida we sat on jfk's tarmac for over an hour waiting for a gate to open.
