...was in SAN last month? It was certainly wasn't a scheduled flight... A government charter perhaps? Maybe crew familiarization for future scheduled service? (wishful thinking...)

Any info would be appreciated.

More than likely... fog at LAX or running low on fuel. Hope that helps.

Most probably a Weather diversion from LAX. LAN flies SCL-LIM-LAX scheduled.

It was a diversion due to fog at LAX. It was in SAN for 3 hours. I was driving down Washington St. and nearly ran off the road. I couldn't believe LAN was here in SAN.

Anyway, they had to wait for CBP because they needed to be refueled and before any fueler could touch the aircraft, CBP had to be there and they weren't on site that early (it wasn't a day were the early MEX flight had come in). The CBP therefore had to drive up from San Ysidro and got caught in traffic.
