I've flown Air Austral from Réunion to Moroni, via Dzadzoui several times.
The route is operated by a French-registered Boeing 737.
Service is brilliant and so is the catering.
I would absolutely recommend this airline.
I havn't tried the UU long haul product, though. I always fly Air France to Réunion.

Flown them CDG-RUN and back. Service was good - no PTVs in eco. Plane was in good condition. The films were provided in English. One strange thing was that when they "met" other planes over Africa, they switched on the landing lights for a second - maybe to say hello?!?
My luggage was lost on the feeder flight to CDG and that was when the trouble started. One plane had a technical problems leading to a complete delay of scedule, becuase at that time, May 2005, they only had two 777. My luggage came 6 days after my arrival and their ground staff was not the greatest help and not very friendly:
-luggage was out of their system
-"it could be on Air France or Corsair - we do not know"
-had to call them everyday and they said "it is on the flight" which is why I had to drive 3 times to RUN, leaving disappointed without my bag! (1 1/2 hours drive from where my hotel was)

I flew them JNB-RUN-JNB on B777 around Xmas 2004.
Inflight-service was fine, the condition of the plane very good, the crew friendly and helpful. No PTV's, the movie on the 4 hrs flight was only in French.
There was only one little thing, even considering Xmas time, the flight was really expensive. Back then, due to a lack of better alternatives, I was more or less forced to take them.
They can be recommended, but don't let them charge you big bucks.

I flew them RUN - MRU about four years ago. Non remarkable B737-200 flight. However when we got to MRU one of the pax in our group didn't get her suitcase. Being an industy person I went with her while she filled out the forms. The guy behind the counter said to her. I'm sorry, but we are required to follow IATA rules, and they say that we are not responsible. You will have to come back to the airport to pick up your bag off the next flight. She was about to agree and I said; Just a minute I've got a couple of questions ...
1. What is your name (which I wrote down),
2. You say that you have to follow IATA rules, Why is that when UU is not a Member of IATA? (silence). Finally he said - Well, that doesn't matter - it's required by law.
3. Oh, I said. I'm glad to hear that. Because IATA RP1724 requires you to get delayed baggage to the passenger as soon as possible, and at your expense - and I showed him my IATA ID card.
4. Her bag showed up at our hotel (1 hour away) by taxi an hour or so after we did.
