UA E+ Bulkhead 777

Hey all,

Quick question; does row 17 bulkhead have PTVs. From this pic I don't see any, so I have to ask to make sure.

They probably have PTV's that fold under the arm rest. I know DL 777s have that for seats behind the bulkhead.

Every seat on UA 777 has a PTV in it. As Dalb777 pointed out, it folds from under the arm rest along with a tray table.

I remember when I flew on SK A330, EWR-CPH-EWR couple of years ago, I walked to see the seat I had assigned for the return trip, which turned out to be in the exit row. Since I didn't see a PTV in that seat, I changed it when checking in for my return flight. Only then I found out that I did that stupidly, because SK, just like UA, has a PTV that folds down, at least in the exit row.

The FAA requires that a Flight attendant be able to see a certain percentage of passengers (think its 80%) while they are seated in there jumpseats. Its a security/safety rule that was in place long before 9-11. It only applies to aircraft delivered after a certain date hence the reason why its only on the Airbusses and 777's.

it was always opened during takeoff and landing for the reason that United1 stated, but i am not too sure that its still a requirement.

Interesting- thanks. Of course, it seems the FAs wouldn't be able to see anything, since their view from jumpseats on the Airbus' and 777 in particular is obstructed by the lavatory and C class.

It is indeed a safety issue - in case of an emergency f/a's can more easily see passengers and possibly direct them during an evacuation.
It also give a roomier feel to the cabin and I certainly wouldn't mind if they kept it open during the entire flight.

Only the international configured ones do (3 class cabin). United's domestic 777's (2 class cabin) do not have PTVs. Same thing goes with the 767's.

Yes, they have to be stowed during takeoff and landing. Some airlines have cameras mounted on their planes showing external views (Austrian for example), in which case you may not want a bulkhead seat as you won't be able to watch the plane landing.

Umm, lets see:
N210UA, N211UA, N212UA, N213UA, N214UA, N215UA. I think that's it, maybe some of the lower 200s (like N207UA, for example)

I'll always remember flying UA 800 NRT-JFK and, upon approach into JFK, hearing something like "United 800 heavy, New York approach, expect runway 13 left." Then the pilot, sounding pissed, said something like "13 left???" and the controller asked "Is there a problem?" to which our pilot immediately responded "No, no problem". Ah, you just have to love the Canarsie approach. At the moment, I couldn't care less if there was a PTV or not. Besides I spent most of the 12 hour flight just looking at the airshow and listening to Ch. 9.
