could they not send the a/c on to the maldives or the seychelles when it is idle (ok prob not with the currently planned layover time, but they could change it a bit) once or twice a week-- they have a very significant leisure business to the caribbean, partic via their virgin holidays sister, but obviously their holidays to the indian ocean are with someone else's metal. just a thought.

I think the problem is though that given the competition with EK and BA, VS will be flying a plane which is too big for that route (at least initially)..and that is the downside VS has. They basically have three large widebody planes with a fouth one coming...I think they would have been smart getting some A330's and let some of the routes develop, then switch to the larger birds...

As well as Royal Brunei's B767's and Biman Bangladesh's DC-10's and A310's. With EK operated LON-DXB 8 times daily, BA twice daily, and Royal Brunei and Biman daily (?) i'm not sure theres going to be the room for a 13th daily flight. But i hope it does okay!

There are no plans to Introduce a 346 on the route through the summer season, the only exception is the first two flights to DXB.
31/4/06 - 26/10/06 (A343) with a config of 34J/35W/171Y
I don't understand why the first two flights are operated by an A346 yet the rest of the year it is done with an A343. Maybe for taxi way tests? I doubt it considering DXB will have so many A380's flying in and out of there.
Come to think of it. The inaugural flight BOM was operated by a A346. Mr RB was on that flight. Maybe he likes the A346 much better than the A343! He likes the V-Port! so maybe their making an exception?

The inaugurals are usually operated on A346 (or B744). They always have mainly press and associated dignitaries onboard and so want to showcase the latest product. The inaugural party will return on the 29/30 Mar hence the use of the A346 on two dates.
