I was just wondering what I should expect to pay for first class round trip tickets from Toronto to London? I know there are a few variables but lets say some time in the spring or summer. The carrier does not matter but obviously which ever one is cheaper.
I would like to plan a trip to London for the spring/summer for a week. I can stay with relatives making accommodation costs nothing so I though that I could take the money I would spend on accommodation and treat my girlfriend and I to a nice trip there and back. Also my girlfriend has never been on a plane before so why not introduce it in style.
I have flown many time but never in first class. I'm looking for a realistic price I can expect to pay and maybe who would be the best carrier to fly there.
Your help would be great!
Thanks

the best would be to check online at either air canada, british airways or virgin atlantics web site. However, expect a major price diff. from the online price compared to thru a travel agent.
But the site will give you a fair idea.
I want every single airport and airplane in India to be on A.net!

Yes I have already check online and the prices are crazy. I was wondering if someone with experience could give me a more realistic idea.
What is the best time period to travel in the week? I.e. what day of the week to what day of the week?

If you are looking for 1st class it wont make a difference what day of the week you travel. Not much competition on the route for directs and 1st is never going to be cheap

Of those carriers only British Airways actually has a true first class cabin.
As for looking on websites, I have never bought a first class ticket directly from an airline. There are consolidators and special offeres out there to get cheaper fares. Find a good reputable travel agent that specializes in business travel. There are reasonable fares. There are also a lot of two for one deals out there where you buy one first class full fare ticket then you get another for free. A lot of that stuff is not advertised, so if you want to get the best fare, then find a travel agent. They have the connections.
If you want real first class, then I would expect to pay somewhere in the vicinity of $10,000. If you want to go for Business Class it would probably be in the vicinity of $3,000-4,000 if you book with advanced purchase. (Those are fares in US Dollars). Reasonable first class fares might require a connection, which would mean that you might as well take a business class nonstop flight.

There is the difference between Domestic and International First Class on US Carriers. International Business does about reflect Domestic First. If you want to go on "real First", here I mean International First it will cost you a hell lot of money. Also because normally they do not discount F tickets to keep it exclusive. You may better ask your friend if she would like to have the trip in First or preferably a small car.....
I personally do only travel First with miles I spend. I nearly always go on business. Sure, I could do it in Economy and save more money. On the other hand, I think I work for a certain Luxury in live and with that I allow myself a Business ticket. On the other hand, if I compare how many good meals I could get for what it costs more in First, it is obvious to save that money and enjoy the food "on earth".
As you mention, your friend never traveled in an airplane before. So I guess it will be a great experience anyhow, even not going the most expensive way. Just remember when you did something the first time, I guess most of the things were great in your experience. Now it depends on your and your friends financial possibilities and the Style you are used to live. Just make sure she is not going to be embarrassed by traveling First as "the fool was spending that much money for me..." I guess you will find out what's best and hope you have a most pleasant stay in England!

Be sure to read the fare rules!
First will cost you ~10K roundtrip, and will be fully flexible and refundable.
Business (international business is often equivalent to domestic first) will run you between $4K and $6K. But BEWARE! There are discounted business fares which are NON-REFUNDABLE and carry $200+ change fees. If for some reason you have work, or have to cancel the trip it is a bummer to be holding a $4K non-refundable ticket!

If you mean US domestic - I would say it was closer to World Traveller Plus, or other similar products. BA Club class (for example) is a much better product that US domestic F.

If you are looking at F/J out of Toronto to London then there is little comparison between AC and BA.
Here are a couple of trip reports I've done about BA's service on the LHR-IAD flights, I've not flown to YYZ on BA but the flight length is similar and meal service is identical (according to the menu)

WOW! i knew it would be expensive but 10K? Must be nice to have that kind of money to blow on a 8 hour trip. Maybe she'll like riding in the baggage compartment.

In second week of May, Toronto to London is pricing on BA as 625GBP in Traveller Plus (as someone mentioned above, not in itself far behind US Domestic First) or 2045GBP in Club World, which tbh is all you'd ever need.
The WT+ price is really good value this far in advance.
Don't forget to get yourself a BA (or other oneWorld except AA) frequent flyer card if you do do this, as you'll be in for a fair few miles in Club.

I agree with several comments on here - YYZ is a short flight to LHR - you really don't need F, C would be just fine. Call a couple of (business) travel agents - we can beat a lot of published C and F fares on certain carriers because we have corporate deals - sorry only ex-Portugal so not much use to you - but I'm sure they are out there in Canada
Breakfast in BHX, lunch in FAO, dinner in TIP, baggage in YYC.
It was these dam trip reports with the great picks that got me wondering in the first place. My problem is that I enjoy the finer things in life but can't afford them. Just looking at the food service in your pics makes me want to treat myself and my girlfriend to dinner and a fine restaurant.

You're better off buying an economy ticket and spending the money that you would have on Business or First Class on restaurants and accomodations in the UK. I know you said you can stay with someone, but I think that you would impress your girlfriend more if you stayed in a nice hotel and took her to some nice restaurants.
Also, don't forget that most flights to London from YYZ are overnight flights. I find that if you really want to enjoy Business or First, you should take a daytime flight, unless you want to be able to sleep for about 4 hours (which is all you can do, considering how many times you'll be disturbed for various things, including meal service).

Only a fool would pay full F.
Try and get the ticket through a reputable travel agency that has large corporate deals. They can sometimes get special deals to upgrade you at least one leg or two, and you only need to pay a Business Class fare.
