THY was supposed to receive 6 738s and A320s before the year end. So assuming an average schedule of 3-4 times a week, it can accomodate 12-15 destinations.
By the way, as far as I know, the first long haul flight for A330 is scheduled in late February.

While there is a lot of expansion ex IST- Ankara ,Antalya and Izmir seem to lack new destinations.Have THY abandoned regional airports in their developement strategy?
I know about a new project of THY to set up a low-cost airline- but that should not collide with normal flights being added specially ex Ankara and Izmir.

Quoting Dkny (Reply 17): I don't understand what kind of market they are looking for in ADD.
Primarily Europe - ADD transit traffic. TK's Istanbul hub can very affectively harness European and regional connections.
In addition Turkey, particularly Istanbul has started seeing pockets of African migrants. As a result Kenya Airways already serves Istanbul twice weekly.

Both Izmir and Ankara have brand new modern terminal under construction. Expect for THY to launch additional IST by-pass services particularly to Europe with the completion of the two facilities.

The planned THY LCC division would indeed be ideal to connect many secondary cities that have low premium traffic demand and are instead primarily driven either by lower yielding tourist or VFR demand.

True, this one would definitely be in competition with EgyptAir and Yemenia who already have flights that connect to Europe out of Addis, and TK would also have further advantage with its destinations in North America. Also, Turkish companies have recently looked at investing in Ethiopia, and while still small, it is something that can be built upon. Again however, it would be on a very small scale.
