The thread title says it all. KPDX and I were talking about it, and how about we set up a PDX meet for the near future??

Of course anyone that wants to come in from around the NW is more than welcome. Let me know!

I think it'd be good to try for January some time? Maybe February?

I've been thinking about this for a while now, it would be nice to meet up at PDX.

I'm sort of new around here, only been in Portland 6 months, what day are we likely to catch some of the 747Fs, and the Lufty etc?

Maybe February would be better than January? who knows, I'm in though.

Ok, I am not available the last two weeks of January. I'll be in LA the week of the 21st-28th.

It would need to be mid-January, or early February. Either is fine with me. I think we could get together at PDX around the time NW and LH will have they're heavies at PDX. I dunno what the bussy times of the day are at PDX. Either way, when we're done, maybe some food and drinks at a local place?

EDIT:

Also, if we're gonna do a meet, it should probably be on a weekend. KPDX is still in school Wink So we should plan on a Saturday possibly.

HA and NW come in early morning around 7 or 8am, and then LH comes in around 1 or 2pm. NW leaves around the same time LH comes in, and then LH departs around 4-5pm.

6-9am I think would be the busiest time, with some NW, DL, and UA flights heading east around that time.

Sounds like fun...I wish I could make it, but can't.

Morning is nice because all the cargo heavies are taking off - FedEx DC-10/MD-11, A300, UPS 767, and the occasional Atlas, Korean or Air China 747.

Then about 8:50-9:10 am the F-15s take off, usually from six to eight of them, followed a few minutes later by a tanker or three.

Yep I remember last time I was there, at 8:56 AM 8 F-15's took off, very awesome, and not to forget, loud sight!

And about the time, in the morning would be great!
And uhh, yea preferably on a weekday!

I cannot do Saturday the 22nd, or Sunday the 23rd. I'll be in LA those days.

The 29th and 30th would be bad for me, as i would have to drive back up to PDX after flying in the day before. I'm for anything in February, on a Saturday afternoon, or Sunday all day.

I coach a 5th grade boys basketball team, and our games will be on Saturdays, likely in the mornings.
