Does anyone know what the shortest 747 flight is FROM THE UK? Im not talking about stops or traffic rights on flights via places, im talking about non stop normal flights departing the UK. Im guessing it may be LHR-CAI at around 5/6 hours? I may be wrong though. What was the shortest flights operated by BA with the 747 of any series, and thats not including rescue flights for the Shuttle services or special subs such as LIS for the football. Thanks.

Technically it had to be MAN-PIK in the days when the YYZ and JFK services would stop there. In particular the one to Toronto. It was a daily scheduled service.

Is LHR-TLV a 744? Thought it was a 763...

My vote would be Cairo.

767's on this route. So it must be LHR-CAI.

When the B744 was first put into service it operated LHR-CDG for a whole season for pilot training.

I believe they still do on a Tuesday and Saturday, might be wrong.

The shortest 747 flight is BA on LHR-Cairo (4hrs:45mins).
TLV is a 2X daily 767 (and sometimes 777) but never a 744 (atleast scheduled)

Merry Christmas to all

SQ's ZRH-MAN-ZRH tag is operated on Tuesdays and Thursdays... Giving the ZRH spotters the opportunity to get the last regular 747 at ZRH arriving in daylight.

Hi CalAir

This was answered in the last thread you asked this question:

What Is The Shortest Flight BA Have The 747 On? (by CalAir Aug 18 2005 in Civil Aviation)

It's CAI in winter, LOS in summer!

Cheers,
Noel

Do people not read the frigging question the guy is asking.

WHAT IS THE SHORTED ROUTE OPERATED BY BA FROM THE UK ON A 747!?

He's not asking about he 767, he's not asking about El Al - Read The Q

Yes CAI is currently the shorted route operated by a 747, LOS as stated earlier is during summer.

I supposed this is not a "route" as I suppose it was a charter, but havn't BA used 747's on LHR-CWL when there's been a big football match?? (or was that European?)

Well if you are including charters BA flew from LHR to Fairford for RIAT which is 59 miles.

I think there's a run by Syrain Arab Airlines LHR-MAN-DAM. I know LHR-MAN is not "From" the UK, but it's probably the shortest 747 run from LHR.
