Merry Christmas y Feliz Navidad everyone! I am interested in hearing if AeroGal has plans to update their fleet from 737-200's and 727-200's to perhaps 733's and 734's? Secondly is there a chance AeroGal may begin service to neighboring countries from Quito and or Guayquil? Would their 727-200's have the range for a GYE-MIA nonstop service? My guess it wouldn't without load restrictions. Any info or thoughts would be appreciated!

Having done a little research I have found that AeroGal has recently added 1 737-200 and are expecting another shortly? Also AeroGal would like to acquire two 757's to serve MIA and NYC(either JFK or EWR). This would make their fleet one 727-200 and four 737-200"s. Which other carriers fly domestically and regionally from Ecuador?

Georgiabill, where did you get that information? I would love to see Aerogal flying two 757s, it would be a great asset to their growing fleet...

There are 3 "main" domestic carriers, TAME (biggest), Icaro and Aerogal, plus 2 more that fly on limited routes, VIP (part of the synergy group with AV) and Saereo.... Of the 5 airlines, none fly regionally, only TAME flies to CLO as part of a border agreement with Colombia.... However, TAME, Icaro and Aerogal are doing a lot of charter flights, which almost appear to be regular now days, and as far as I know, they are all doing great on those... It would be good to finally see a national airline flying internationally and taking away some pax from the monopolized market by LAN & AA....

AeroGal has charterflights to Curacao. I was hoping they would also use their 727 to Curacao but luck wasn't with me unfortunately. See my photos below:

Aerogal will NOT get 757's from their own, the codeshare will be either with UA, or AVA. This is becuase no HC registered plane can enter the US yet due to Ecaudors category. This project has been speculated with AEROGAL for a long time, but nothing is certain and it is said they MIGHT start June 2006, but not for sure. OHh, and Aerogal is going to get an other 732 and EMB120's. The 727 will go to Chile for C-check in about 5 months.
About the routes, yep, TAME flys to Cali and charters to Havana, Curacao, San Andres and some others in brazil (With stop overs at BOG some times). They also plan to open more routes ut mainly regionally when their EMB's arrive....
ICARO with their new 737 will be flying to Bogota soon. The idea is also Panama and maybe a route in Brazil. With the 732F they will fly to Manaos and to Panama for sure.

Thanks airport mananger for the information, and I wanted to know if you have any idea as to when (ir if ever) will Ecuador's air category be upgraded... it sure sucks that no national airline can fly to the US, and it doesn't seem right to keep Ecuador at their current category, the airports seem better than some countries who do have CAT 1 status, so it sure makes me wonder why Ecuador is still under CAT 2...
Also, it would be great if United starts codesharing with Aerogal, it would finally add Ecuador as a destination to Star alliance (or maybe not, but at least united passengers could fly to Ecuador now).

Another important question, when will the long-due EMB arrive? As far as I know, the airplanes have been sitting in Brazil for months now waiting to be delivered.... I even remember a month or so ago, FAE made some sort of practice with their airplanes that was said was to be done again as a celebration of the new arriving aircraft (with the EMBs in the show).... so, why things are taking so long, and is there any news as to the date they EMBs will arrive? Will they still get the 2 EMB-170s and 1 EMB-190 or not?
Any news would be greatly appreciated....

I was going by information obtained on DVD featuring Aerogal. I had forgotten about Ecuador being a cat 2. still hope this little airline continues to grow and proper. Enjoyed my flights and someday may get to fly them from MIA to GYE nonstop
