Hello,

I think BA has (had) some Cancùn (CUN) service via MEX with 747-400's. Anyone confirming this? Any idea of when they started? And if they did, when they dropped the rouyte?

Also, Air France and AeroMexico had a joint service between CUN and CDG a few years ago. This was an AeroMexico aircraft operated under the AM030/AF230 flight numbers, twice a week.

Any idea of when it started? I think it was dropped the 25 October 1997.

Best regards,
Alain Mengus

BA fly direct to Cancun now since March 1999 with a B777 from LGW.

It operates with 28 Club World Seats and 355 World Traveller.

They fly to Mexico City with a B747-400 with First Class still on that route.

The Mexico City flight does not go to Cancùn, they are separate.

I believe the Mexico City flighs with B747-400s started around 1995 from Heathrow and were transferred to Gatwick a couple of years later along with the other South American routes. The flight is flown on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays

As JMC777 said the Canun flights are by 777, in a JM layout on Mondays and Fridays.

PropilotJW:

Cancun is a nice airport, with a nice air conditioner, there are not a lot of gates, but it has a lot of air traffic, especcialy for AeroMexico, Mexicana (and its 2 regional airlines) Continental and American Airlines

Actually BA's London-Mexico City flight leaves from Heathrow, not Gatwick. It is flown on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays with a 747-400. The Cancun flight is a 777 on Mondays and Fridays leaving from Gatwick.

Cancun is one of Mexico's best designed airports. The international terminal has 9 jetway gates and is very spacious and comfortable. A very enjoyable airport to fly in. By the way, a great approach to both runways (12 and 30).

Hello,

Thanks!

I had heard about some transfer plans of BA to LGW. Could anyone tell me how they share their routew between LHR and LGW please? Are the most successful operated from LHR?

What about AM and AF on Cancùn please?

Thank you very much,

Best regards,
Alain Mengus

AM,
Yes your'e right, my mistake, the MEX flights do leave from LHR!

As to BA's LHR/LGW split;
Most major North American cities are served from LHR, while mainly secondary/leisure cities are served from LGW. A few are duplicated at both airports (eg JFK)

In Central/South America/Caribbean most services are from LGW

In Noth/Central Africa most services are from LGW, while those to Southern Africa mainly from LHR

Nearly all Asian, and all Far East and Australasian routes are from LHR.

(There is no easy way to describe how routes are split)
PLEASE CORRECT IF I'M WRONG!!!!
