"Delta pilots agree to 14% pay cut "
says BBC.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/4565566.

"Their average salary of about $170,000 a year will now fall to about $146,000. "

Those figures seem quite high to me.

Sorry, if this has been posted before!

At one point they were the highest paid in the industry. Personally I agreed with the first pay cut since it would help keep them employed and could be seen as goodwill in supporting the company. I'm not so sure about the second cut though since part of me says the management weren't able to control costs so why should they go back to the pilots for more concessions.

yeah, love the quote about average salary being 170 per year. That comes from a company memo and it was based on the quarter before our last pay cuts took effect. Nice spin.

Have many DL pilots been laid off or furloughed recently?

Assuming there have been, surely some DL aircraft which DL is trying to get rid of could be used in a charter division & laid off pilots could be offered employment at lower salaries in this low cost division, with the view to being remployed by DL mianline, when things get better.

Don't know how many flights DL has to HNL, but Australians are crying out for more services to the USA & not into awful LAX or SFO. HNL is perfect gateway & charter seems to best way to test the market without major commitment of resources.

Any comments especially by QL employess or DL pilots?

I know some Delta pilots are infuriated about this and have withdrawn their membership from ALPA. Its going to get ugly folks.

Management's numbers were bullshit, they failed to account for all of the money realized from the first 1B cut. All they did with the first cut was squander it, then turn around and blame it all on fuel prices. Airline management worldwide needs to learn that the employees are not their personal ATM.

No, not for quite awhile- they're slowly bringing some back, I think there was around 600-700 guys still on the street however...down from 1200 back in 2003-ish. The company did want the ability to furlough whenever they needed to though, which was one of the things DALPA wasn't too fond of.

Amen brother! Part of me wants to stop by the HQ building each week on my way to Hartsfield to smack some sense into the upper management. Kind of sucks for the pilots though getting stuck with a Catch-22 like this.

BTW...FLY NAVY!

Yes there is another posting...  Smile But it's also very interesting. Yes the 170.000 -> 146.000 $ pay is true. And they are still overpaid... But it is a nice step in the right direction. Now DL has a slightly bigger change of surviving.

Happy New Year...  Smile
