Now it is confirmed: Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic will see scheduled VH services from 25 may.
Schedule is as follows and available in GDS already:
Thursdays and Sundays
CCS-POP 12:00-14:50
POP-CCS 15:20-18:10
Aircraft is a MD82.
Fares from CCS start at 190 US$ oneway.
Finally a new destination. I hope it will be used a lot by venezuelan tour operator in order to bring some more tourists to the Dominican north coast.
Aeropostal is already operating 10 weekly MD services to Santo Domingo.

Quoting Luisde8cd (Reply 1): By the way Chiguire, how are the "new" MD80s coming? How many more will be joining the fleet in 2006?
According to my information there are 7 now with 13 more to come in 2006. But I don't know when.
All the DC9 will have left the fleet by the end of 2006.

It seems the Dominican Republic - Venezuela market is a very profitable one.
Since Venezuela grants Panamá 5th rights to only one destination and PTY-SDQ do quite well, there were some talks about a possible PTY-MAR-SDQ; but I really doubt CM will add another flight to SDQ via Venezuela or add MAR anytime soon.
One market Aeropostal should study is CCS-PTY late evenning / PTY-CCS early morning, even thrice weekly it could work.

I am quite sure that PTY is the next new destination announcement we are going to read here. And as it will have to connect to intercontinental traffic I a sure it will leave CCS in the late afternoon, around 17:00. The only question then is, if it returns the next day in the morning or the same evening.
Maybe they go CCS-PTY-SJO, returning next morning to again connect to european flights in CCS.
