Has NQY-AGP Been Dropped?

Is somebody able to confirm that the ZB 3x weekly flights between Newquay and Malaga been dropped and the last service will operate at the end of April.

Certinaly did Pe@rson, and I think they are going to shoot themselves in the foot when the current direct PLH-ORK service has a stop in Newquay following its tempoary suspension.

Passengers will know that it is far easier just to drive up to EXT and get their direct flight.

But I hope you know as well as I know that BBC spotlight are completely biased in faovur of local news and events in plymouth, so if this happened to BE in EXT, then it would be a short 30 second what happened with the usual generic film of a plane taxiing out, the one they've been using for the last five years.

Talking about NQY - I remember that BBC News said, a couple/few years' ago, that FR was to create a base at the airport. Nothing has, of course, happened, and, indeed, its twice-daily frequency has been chopped to once-daily because of the dispute, but... who knows what might happen?

Talking about NWI  Wink, I was really surprised that BE announced NWI-EXT and with BRS-NWI too now on the market I can only see one of these routes going on to succeed.

I've been looking at the fares for the EXT-NWI route, of course the more expensive it is above its original cost, that gives you an indication of how many passengers have booked and all of the flights are still at £0.00.

Personally this route too will go belly up like the LPL service has, which will be ending on the 15/02/06. I think BE really should have opened up EXT-MAN first, then see what the market was like.

I also have another concern to do with the new Air Wales EXT-ORK service. The website says that tickets are available soon, what a week before the service is due to start and people will go away form the website, when the tickets are already available to be purchased. Also if you go to their low fare finder, it says the flights are full, what a load of rubbbish.

I hope the service succeeds, but if they don't, I'm sure BE will swallow it up with wide open smiles.

By the way, do you know anything about EXT-AMES?

Hopefully it'll happen in the not-too-distant future. I can see at least a once-daily service. Considering the number of potential connections (less than at CDG), it might even be twice-daily (DH4). Who knows?

And the summer season is certainly the high season.

Yes, you are right: FR is indeed ending its now once-daily service on 24th March, 2006. It won't operate during the summer. I can but assume that it is either due to the dispute or, more likely, a lack of profit. If it's the latter, then it's fair enough. But when FR pulls out, or before it does, I bet NQY will offer an exceptionally good deal which FR will accept (and then try to reduce). So, who knows what the future may hold?

I have heard that BE are considering replacing FR on NQY-STN. It'd be an interesting development.

If the route was profitable then chances are FR wouldn't be dropping it, even if they didn't get on with the council run airport. FR would only drop the route a) if it's loss-making, or b) if they think they can make more money using the same aircraft on another route.

If the route makes money then another carrier will step in, make no mistake. If nobody takes it over in a hurry, then it's a good bet it wasn't profitable.

In addition to FR's exit on the 24th March, Monarch's flights will cease on 30th April.

This will be a big blow for Newquay Cornwall Airport.

I was on the 3rd flight from Malaga back in November and loads from NQY were very good and there was a lot of excitement about the service. As an expat in Gibraltar with family in Cornwall it was the answer to my prayers.

I have not seen reported whether the cessation is due to the Airport Development Fee (ADF) which was introduced at the end of October - anyone any ideas?
