Hi,
I have just booked flighst to nbo with a connection @ dubai from lhr in Feb with Emirates. The itinery states what ac we'll be on (lhr-dxb 773 dxb-nbo a343.. & a332 back to lhr) although I would like to know if EK are using the 300 or the 300er on the outbound lhr sector? Also, what obvious differences are there on these two once aboard? Are the er's used on only the longer haul flights? I assume if so that the newer er's will have newer and maybe more advanced ife's?
Is there anyway of getting a reg for that route or is it to soon?
Any info would be great, as a plane freak the flights make up 50% of the enjoyment of my holiday!!!!

Hey....
I just recently flown EK between LHR and DXB, the outbound flight was a standard 777-300ER (A6-EMR) the return flight DXB-LHR was a 777-300ER
(A6-EBE) IFE on the 'ER' is so much better, its the new ICE system although I believe some of the standard 300s are getting it installed, either way, im sure you will have an enjoyable experience with EK, i certainly did!

Cheers Glenn!
I think it'll be a standard 300 as the majority of photo's in the database latley are that of them @ LHR - my fav looking ac so either version is fine! Have been informed the return from DXB is a330-200, never ridden on either so not to unhappy about that either!
Does anyone know if the general ife's changed on various models? I pressume newer ac have newer systems but do different routes cater for different viewing pleasures!!!? Also, do EK have in-seat e-cams?

I assume you are flying EK002, if so then your'e flight will be a 3 class 777-300ER (77W)?
Emirates flights to NBO are flown by the A340-300
As Glenn said, the ICE system is much better on the 300ER's than the usual IFE, but the 300's and 200's are beginging to receive the new ICE system now

Too soon to request a reg, but ask around 3-4 days prior to your departure from LHR
Quoting VS773ER (Thread starter): Are the er's used on only the longer haul flights?
EK use the 77W on any route now, mostly to Europe (LHR, DUS, MAN, GLA... and soon BHX) and Asia/Pacific routes such as BKK, AKL, SYD...

I agree, it does with me also
The A330-200's and A340-300's have the same cabin's as eachother which I find are nice as they are in a 2-4-2 layout in Eco, whereas the 777's are in a cramped 3-4-3 config
THe A340/A330's most likely will not have the new ICE system, but are due to get upgraded (so some might by Feb), whereas the 77W that you are flying on will have the newest ICE system
Have you been to DXB before, it's a great airport?

You're in luck, see my above post

Do you mean camera's, if so yep They have two camera's forward and downwards! BTW - Does EK offer camera views of the tail on the 77W and 345's?

On the 77W it had the same cameras as the 773....nose cam and belly cam, no tail cam on the one I went on

Thanks Glenn/Rob.
Just checked, outbound from lhr is EK0004. Maybe no ER for me this time round - but my first flight on a 777 with a great airline like EK is good enough for me!

May do - it's an evening flight on the first sector so may not get many good images - plus the girfriend just doesn't understand why I need to run the digi-camera's power down recording to's and landings so am banned - women!
