That is great, i remember the Arkia accident and it was just crazy what happened, and how lucky the people onboard were from not getting hit!

There has been rumors going around that the Royal Jordanian a 340-200 has this flare type anti missile system aswell.

cheers Leo

Is this the BAE system or the Lockheed (?) system? These seem to be the 2 systems available. From a news report on these systems, the BAE system uses several small pods with the lasers while the other system uses one larger pod (like the size of a kayak). In both systems, they are set to use lazers to dazzle and thus distact the sensor systems on smaller missles.

Do LY pilots have any military training ??

I heard that all pilots who fly for LY have to serve in the Israeli Air Force prior to being hired. Keeping in Mind that everyone in Israel (with very few exceptions) have to serve in the military for (30 months). Is that true ?

Most, if not all, LY pilots are ex-Israeli Air Force.

Yes.

Well since most Israelis serve in the IDF, it makes sense that all of the F/As are ex-military....

Most adult Israelis are conscripts.
