Quoting IberiaA319 (Reply 1):
Will this affect Ethiopian Airlines significantly? They have daily ADD-DXB flights on B757 or B767.
It should be quite interesting to see... ET currently operates 2x daily to Dubai.
This is great, in terms of competition, and would further stimulate traffic between ADD and DXB. DXB is already a popular destination for Ethiopians, and it should also be noted that ET's bulk of pax are those who are connecting at ADD, as opposed to those originating at ADD. You will notice how DXB bound flights are well timed for connections to/from all of ET's African destinations.

So in the spring, ADD will see several new international carriers. I can think of Emirates, Turkish, Qatar. Already serving ADD are Lufthansa, Kenya Airwyas, KLM, Yemenia, BMed (BA). ET is going to have a tuff time fighting for the local traffic.
