Apparently "the body of the aircraft symbolises each province while the tail has a bluish design that you get to seen on tiles from interior sindh..the ones that are hand painted..very cultural.. "

3M in Pakistan have been given the responsibility of placing the new livery on the entire fleet. First aircraft in the new livery is expected on the new 777LR Jan/Feb 06.

Didn't they just get new colors as seen on the 777 in reply 1?

Well good. That white scheme is dreadful and has no character. It didnt last long either.

Yep!

Maybe the customer feedback hasn't been too positive? It is a little bland!

i hope the new colours will be good...but I was hoping PK would keep the "dreamliner livery" for their new -200LR and just paint the tail something else..

because a sizeable majority of ppl who work for PIA and who give PIA business i.e. Pakistani based travel agents in PAK and those abroad have disliked this current livery and have made it no big secret. It is due to this feedback that the livery will be changing and thank god for that !!!

The original PIA livery was much better than this present nonsense...what was even better was the "Pashmina" tail design implemented on the first few ex CX B 743s!!!

PIAs B 772LRs first flight will be IAH-KHI nonstop in March.

Hmmm,

I didn't see this coming, but interesting to see what PK will be coming with. The way I read it here, will this new livery have a similar idea to the Air India Express low-cost airline? This airline also has typical Hindi (India) cultural features on their 738s such as the elephant and musical instruments. If so, I think the livery will become a very nice one Big grin

PK stole LY's livery design. Compare theirs with LY's. Both have the flag on the tail and both have the stripe on the fuselage.

I said the same about Mexicana's new livery -- such a bland design doesn't go with such a colorful country!

Im very glad that PIA's changing this latest thing. Euro-white with one weak swoosh is SO past tense (someone tell Air New Zealand too!) .. and on the tail - i mean no offense here if I'm not realizing what it is- but it looks lilke the Rolling Stones lips and tongue symbol - what is it?!

Bravo to PIA for ditching the ho-hum!!

It is a Maori symbol. Not sure what exactly. It's called the Koru. Has had its place on NZ aircraft for a long time.

In fact Air India Express even has different colours on each side of the same plane!

No, i wasnt referering to the NZ logo - just the boring Euro-White livery of theirs - - the logo I meant was the current PIA is currently using on their tail. Sorry bout that - i did word that sentence badly.

I know its supposed to be a weirdly distorted angle-d flag, but it looks like a cross between the Rolling Stones logo and Bart Simpson - check it out:

If you are referring to the flag itself, the flag illustrates the moon and star symbolic to the Islam and therefor all Islamic countries. Every islamic airline has this on their national flags except for (Saudi) Arabian airlines who use other islamic symbols and of course their arabian language.

No, just the weird way it's angled on the tail and what that odd angle makes it looks like from a distance till u realize that its the flag. Its ugly. Thats all im saying. The one before it was much nicer.

Oww okay, I misunderstood you. I hope PK's new livery will be something totally different too as their current livery is more like a El Al copy in my opinion.

I agree. The current livery is hideous. An aqua/blue-green mosaic tail design would look fresh and (if done right) stylish.

Great news! The newest PIA livery is SO UGLY! Somehow the pic of the 777 in reply 1 doesn't look as horrible, must be the right angle and light and airplane.., yet the old one look good anytime.

If the colors are a combination of green and blues that should hopefully be a great livery (although I'm not expecting much based on the trendy crappy new liveries recently) It will be great to see PIA with a bold, distinctive livery though, rather than with their copy of EL ALs terrible new scheme.

Or maybe they've been reading the comments on a.net LOL

I keep thinking those flags on PIAs tails are pirate flags.
