Happy new year to all on airliners!

This will be a big year for airliners.net because we should get the 1000 000th photo posted. This moment it is at 942 353.

So im thinking we should start to try to guess what the image might be. If you would like to contribute place down your choices in the following order.

1. Airline or Airforce (which airline or nations airforce that is)
2. Aircraft type
3. If you like the photographer as well.
4. The location.

I will try to keep copies of the post so in a few months time their might be a winner. And if im rich enough (Im yet to check last night lotto numbers) I might organize a good prize.

One rule - to be considered the winner you have to have pick correctly at least 3 of the 4 categories.

Good Luck!

My pick for the 1000 000th

1. Croatian Airforce (I know its no airline but I like this pick)
2. Mig21UMD 10th anivesery operation Tempest (storm) dedicated markings
3. Chris Lofting
4. Zadar Zemunik Airbase.

It will be another pristinely backlit photograph of an A380 taking off as seen from another aircraft. Guess the photographer.

It's going to be a crappy photo of like a cessna or something and the photographer won't even know he shot the one millionth pic.

The proper term is "on final" not "on finals" bud...

Wow, 1,000,000 photos. I still remember sitting down one day and going through 1,000 or 1,500 photos...which was about all they had at the time. Most impressive.

1. Emirates
2. A380-800
3. T.Laurent
4. Toulouse - Blagnac (TLS/LFBO)

This is a complete shot in the dark. I just made something up off the top of my head. I did look up the photographer, though.

Here's a thought: What if the site administrators know exactly when it's time to admit the 1,000,000th photo into the database. Do you think they might be a little selective of what image that might be? Like if somebody just submitted an ordinary landing picture of a FlyI RJ-200, it would get rejected since it's not that special or memorable pic? Just a speculation.

I would imagine so, although they wouldnt reject the picture, just hold off approving it. They will probably start looking for a picture in the week running up to the 1millionth, and hold off approving it until its the 1millionth...

At least thats what I would do if i was in charge.

That'll teach you

I did no good in the massive lotto draw, so it looks less likely there will be a prize.  present  Still keep them coming! Smile

Good to see people are starting to adopt strategies. This could be true. So use this to your advantage when making your guess.

If this is true they may dedicate the spot to the most popular pic on the site.

1. Air france
2. B747-228BM
3. Justin Cederholm
4. At good old St Maarten.

That would be complete and total BS if that happened. It should be treated as no different than a normal photo.

edit: also, this should be in the photo forum.

It SHOULD be a wide shot containing a dirty fuselage AF 777 and an AF 340 at YYZ. With a NW DC9 in the background.

This would spurn the standard new topics in the Civ-Av forums:
A vs B in one of its many forms.
Dirty AF birds. (Not he FAs )
When are NW gonna replace their aging...
High landing fees at YYZ.
