New seats in the Business and Economy Classes will provide a considerable improvement in seating comfort on Lufthansa flights within Germany and Europe as of next spring.
Leather seats will still be standard not only in the Business Class, but also in the Economy Class.
By October, all 140 aircraft in the European fleet will be equipped with the new cabin.
The new seats in the Business Class offer a comfortable seat breadth of 48 cm, in the Economy Class of 44 cm. The room for the knees will be increased by up to 4 cm.
The lower weight of the new seats leads to a reduction in the fuel consumption and thus also the pollutant emissions of the Lufthansa fleet. Calculated for the entire European fleet, that means an annual reduction in fuel consumption of approximately five million liters.

I've seen pictures of the new seats, unfortunately I can't share them. From the pictures I have seen, the new LH seat for European flights looks quite comfrtable. IMO, even better than the new LX one. In C-class, a table (bigger than the one at LX) can be folded out of the backrest of that middle seat. The leader will be in two different shades of grey and gives the seat a much more modern look than the old one.

What a clever design, using the seatback as the table by flipping it out and down instead of inserting an extra tabletop which must be stored somewhere when not in use (se pic of SWISS seats in first post).

I could be wrong because the article is not specific enough but I get the impression that the seats will still have a flipdown table. The backrest flip down center console, as it is referred in the article, appears to be an addition and not a substitute to the flip down table.
