This is about the time that the proverbial "mouse in hand" experts of the airline industry start proclaiming NWA does not have a viable business plan and they are doomed. As a UAL employee (pilot) this was the case with us for many months as the company sought to maintain the exclusivity period. DL will do the same thing in the coming months and others will champion their demise. The BK process will only end when each carrier is satisfied it has the cost structure and exit financing it needs. Until then the extensions will continue.

Good luck NWA and DL

With the labor turmoil at Northwest, this is not a surprise.

Quoting Mcdu (Reply 1):
DL will do the same thing in the coming months

I seem to remember already reading that DL had requested an extention for their plan. Maybe I hallucinated it, though.

As all of the UA bashers said 10 times over "Oh my god, just shut them down already, they don't deserve to be in business, they are abusing the system, they are criminal, they judge is corrupt, the world is ending..."

My only complaint is airline management is saying the airline won't turn a profit until 2009 or 2010. Man, how can anyone allow a company to stay in business and willing allow it to sustain losses for 3-4 more years? If you can't return to profitability before that, you need to sh*t (file a plan now) or get off the pot!

Man you might as well shut down every Major Airline (Legacy) , cause it might take that long forall of us to make a profit Yearly Profit and not making a profit by selling assests.
