I've found a cheap day trip with AB to Paderborn/Lippstadt Airport. Does anyone have any experience of this airport? Is it worth spending a few hours there? Are there any good viewing areas within the terminal? Any help would be appreciated.

To be honest, I would not look forward to spend a few hours at PAD, but at least is it more busy than DTM.

Even the city of Paderborn sucks, they brew a pretty bad beer, too.

Wow, that sounds great! No chance of a Paderborn A.Net meet then?  Wink

Which day you want to travel there? Maybe I can check which AB planes are scheduled that day. Might be you miss some of the fleet on your list.

Georg.

Well on the 27th I have to go there on an excursion. That might actually be interesting.
The area however is probably one of the worst in Germany, just BOOOORING!

On the other hand, I would NEVER encourage anybody NOT to take a trip anywhere (that's not unsafe). Big grin

By the way, I forgot to mention that a trip to Paderborn could be interesting when you like football. The SC Paderborn is playing quite good at the moment and I enjoyed the game when I saw them in the stadium in Bochum a few weeks ago.

Their next home games are on:

  • Sunday, 22nd of January (vs. Unterhaching)

  • Sunday, 5th of February (vs. Cottbus)

  • Tuesday, 21st of February (vs. Rostock)

  • Getting tickets an hour or so before the games start should be no problem.

OT-I was there in Fall of 2004 and the girls running the coffee bar were worth the trip alone.

Thanks for the very kind offer but at the moment I don't know when I'll be going (though probably sometime in February). I'm thinking of doing MAN/PAD out and then PAD/STN/MAN back which gives about 4 hours in PAD.
