I've just heard from a friend that AI has / is soon taking delivery of another 777. Apparently the aircraft was spotted at STN on its way to BOM. Can anyone confirm this? I was not award that AI had been able to get their hands on any more 777s in the short term? IF this is true, does anyone have pics/reg or name of the aircraft?
Thanks

already being discussed elsewhere. The registation of the aircraft is very interesting: VT-AIR.
It is also ex-UA, probably been with RG on last assignment. Supposed to be initial version, that is non-ER.

Hi!
@Aseem:
No, the latest 772 for AI is not an ex-RG Triple7, just an ex-UA 777.
Must have been N766UA before its life with AI.
So, this is AI's 4th 777. And when we'll see their order for 77L and 77W being officially listed on Boeing's site??? (I know there are some topics in here, but w/o any specified date, IIRC)

shouldn't take long. It should coinside with Dubya's visit to India next month. They just have to sign on dotted line, everything is more or less finalized. Air India Plane Purchases Approved (by Aseem Dec 20 2005 in Civil Aviation)

Trivia: The former N766UA (cn 26917/8) was one of the three UA 777s that inaugurated 777 commercial service on 1995-06-07 along with sister ships N777UA (LHR-IAD) and N767UA (now with Varig as PP-VRI). I do not know what routes the N766UA and N767UA flew that day.

I don't know what route N766UA flew on inauguration day, but I do know that several weeks later I flew on N766UA from EWR to LHR - on good old UA 906.

It was me that reported it . IF you look at the Indian Aviation pt2 thread, you'll find the ferry details half way through there.

Well done Rob! Sorry I missed that before. So has anyone got any pics?

Hard to believe that these aircraft are almost almost 11 years old already, and are now entering the second hand market! It doesn't seem that long since I saw my first one!
