TWA ANNOUNCES NEW REGIONAL JET MARKETS
Second Wave of Deployment Brings New Service to Jackson, Mississippi

ST. LOUIS (July 6, 2000) - Trans World Airlines, Inc. announced it will deploy Trans World Express® regional jets into three markets this August and September, including new service into Jackson, Mississippi.

Effective September 10th, 2000 TWA will offer regional jet Trans World Express service between TWA's St. Louis hub and Jackson, Mississippi. This new service will include two roundtrips per day, and a third daily roundtrip will be added on October 10th.

Regional jets will be phased into Cincinnati, Ohio and Shreveport, Louisiana beginning August 10th. By September 10th TWA will offer a schedule of five TWE roundtrips per day in Cincinnati and three TWE roundtrips per day in Shreveport. This new service in Cincinnati, Shreveport, and Jackson will be operated by TWA marketing partner Chautauqua Airlines. There will be no interruption of schedule during this phase-in period. Schedules and fares will be viewable and available for booking by July 10th.

"TWA is pleased to be returning to an important market like Jackson," said Don Casey, TWA's executive vice president of marketing. "TWA has much to offer Jackson passengers - like convenient connections to more than 100 destinations through TWA's St. Louis hub, including new destinations like Maui and Bermuda."
"The initiation of Trans World Express service by TWA in establishing flights between Jackson and St. Louis will be a great benefit to the citizens and businesses of the City of Jackson and the surrounding area," said Harvey Johnson, Jr., mayor of the City of Jackson. "This service will provide more options for travelers, both business and pleasure, and will be a plus in terms of economic development and quality of life for all of us."
"The arrival of regional jet service is good news for TWA and the markets they serve," said Bill Compton, TWA's CEO and president. "Markets like Cincinnati and Shreveport need and deserve service, but not as many seats as a larger jet provides. By moving regional jets into these markets we can still offer the comfort and speed of a jet, but more efficiently use our larger jets to offer more frequency in underserved, larger markets and even move into markets that are new for TWA."
"Regional jets allow TWA the ability to expand into new markets and profitably increase frequency of flights in our existing markets," said Marcus Spiegel, TWA's managing director of regional alliances. "More frequency means more convenience and choice for our passengers. And the Jackson service is just the beginning of a wave of new choices for our passengers."

Chautauqua Airlines will use Embraer 145 regional jet aircraft on these routes. The Embraer 145 seats 50 passengers in a single-class configuration.

"Chautauqua Airlines is proud to be a part of Jackson, Mississippi’s future, by partnering with TWA," said Bryan K. Bedford, President and Chief Executive Officer of Chautauqua Airlines. "We look forward to bringing new, state-of-the-art regional jet aircraft and superior Trans World Express service to this important new market."
This is the second wave of regional jet deployment for TWA. Earlier this year TWA and Trans States Airlines brought TWExpress regional jets to Peoria, Illinois, Fayetteville/Bentonville, Arkansas, and Greenville/Spartanburg and Charleston in South Carolina. Chautauqua Airlines will bring at least 15 brand new regional jets to the TWA system between now and the fourth quarter of 2001.

Members of TWA's frequent flyer program, Aviators®, will earn miles on these flights. To celebrate the addition of Jackson to the TWA route map, TWA is offering double miles on all flights between Jackson and TWA's St. Louis hub between September 10th and October 31st, 2000. Aviators members who would like to take advantage of this offer can register through TWA's website, www.twa.com, with register number 91200.

Chautauqua Airlines is owned by investment funds organized and managed by Wexford Management LLC, a Greenwich, Connecticut-based diversified investment company. Chautauqua operates a fleet of 9 jet and 33 turboprop aircraft operating 263 daily flights to 35 communities in 19 states plus Ontario.

TWA flies approximately two million passengers per month on more than 825 daily flights to 100 destinations (including seasonal service) in North America, the Caribbean, Europe and the Middle East. TWA tickets are available for purchase through TWA Reservations at 1-800-221-2000, through travel agents, and through TWA's website at www.twa.com.
