...but I'm wondering if any of you types have any evidence more concrete than hearsay.

Anyone?

OH, the days of the DC-9. Miss those birds. I might have to take a flight on NW now so I can experience that again.

Good to hear, considering that TA seems to have abandoned us.

I too am curious as to the equipment.

UA codeshares on pretty much every AC transborder flight.

It would be completely stupid to bring back the Jazz CR2, that was just too small and the CASM is high. I think one of their new E-jets would be perfect until the traffic level goes up to Airbus numbers.

It would probabaly be in the schedules by mid Febuary if it is planned on starting in April let's say.

Fred...nice photo montage of the pre-K AC days...but you left out the 732 that was operated by CP and later AC.  Smile

AC will be welcomed back here with open arms to say the least!

No, it would be completely logical. To restart YYZ-MSY should involve the smallest AC aircraft which would minimize the risk. The CRJ is perfect.

Panam, TWA, Ansett, Eastern.......AC next? Might be good for Canada.

I just wish AC would time the flight to connect with their international flights to/from Europe. The standard ATL/CDG connections to get from/to Europe is boring.

The CR2 is certainly better than nothing, but a 705 for example would offer an overall better product.

Back in the day AC had no trouble filling up the Jazz CRJ. Honestly, I think it will be no different this go around. In fact, I think AC will do BETTER down here. The entire market has changed...in many ways for the better as far as airlines are concerned. Every route is seeing vastly increased yields.

so why limit yourselves to them?

EWR, PHL, IAD, CLT, MIA, MEM, DTW, ORD, DFW, and IAH all offer realistic non-ATL same-airline connection opportunities to Europe.

Course, it's still a b!tch that we don't have our own scheduled nonstop, but I wont open that can o' worms in this particular thread  Wink

Indeed ... AF could swoop in an put on a 3x weekly nonstop to CDG ... would make life PERFECT (well pre-K perfect .. ha!)

Concorde Boy .. I know .. I did limit myself .. it's just that AC should really capitalize on the intl routes ...

another thing about those 'other' gateways is right now or lately I shoudl say is it is hard to use PHL, DTW, CLT, IAD and to some extent EWR becaue of the post-K schedules... that will change... It upsets me that US hasn't come back to full schedule already .. but as mentioned .. they are planning something I hear.

Pre-K US was running:

CLT (5x daily)
PHL (5x daily)
DCA (3x daily)
PIT (1x daily)
LGA (1x daily)

I don't expect PIT to come back...and probably not LGA now that both DL and AA will be flying the route. Hopefully we'll see at least four flights to CLT and two to PHL/DCA before too long.

Didnt they wanna fly MSY-FLL with a 70 seater?

Funny, considering Bush is despised here.

Except that CR2s are so high CASM that it is difficult to eeek out all but the smallest profit with them. In a market like New Orleans that will see an influx of tourist traffic over the next few months combined with all the business traffic into the city, it makes more sense to operate something with a lower CASM and a premium cabin to take advantage of both markets.

They had already announced MSY-FLL before the storm

From what I heard, they had planned on starting MSY-FLL with 170's. It was never loaded into the schedules, however. Now, I've heard that DL may send an RJ from here to FLL. It would be a good move since WN is reluctant to add it back.

I thought it had been announced along with their added frequencies to the hubs. It was months ago anyway, so I could definately be wrong.

Never saw it in a published schedule or press release.

25 Post contains images MD90fan : It was rumored IIRC last summer(05), too bad FLL-NAS/PLS never got off the ground
26 TIMEAIR : Not in stone, however it is expected the E190 AND CRJ705 will op flights into MSY when schedule is re-introduced.
27 Post contains images Bmacleod : If it is already codeshare with UA, why won't it show up on AC online timetable when entered? Keep getting "Can't provide schedule for requested route
28 ConcordeBoy : Interesting. As in Eqp. alternation, or more than one frequency per day? ...or, are we finally looking at a YUL nonstop as well?
29 TIMEAIR : Will initially be 2 daily with CRJ705 and introduction of e175/e190 equip I believe sometime in summer for a 3rd frqcy daily. YUL may happen in fall w
30 N1120A : Yippie Kai Eh Mother F'er!!
31 FLYACYYZ : Pre-Katrina, MSY supported one CRJ200 flight from YYZ, downgauged over the years from DC9/319. 2 or 3 flights a day?? Not anytime in the near future!
32 MSYtristar : Honestly, I would not be surprsed if demand has increased between YYZ and MSY. We are seeing extremely high load factors on every roite out of here.
33 ConcordeBoy : You say that because you're viewing the MSY-YYZ traffic only from AC's perspective. The market circa 2002 was sufficient for double daily A319s, howe
34 Post contains images Mack8994 : My guess is that it will be the E90. But then again... I could be wrong!
35 ConcordeBoy : What international markets are they currently serving with those? With the CR7s?
36 N1120A : Well, at the very least, AC has both the E90 and E75 flying YYZ-BOS
37 MD90fan : Off the top of my head E-90: YOW-MCO, FLL. YYC-EWR Toronto-Boston Toronto-Newark Toronto-New York La Guardia Toronto-Miami Toronto-Kelowna Toronto-Ot
38 FLYACYYZ : I don't rule out the Embraer's operating YYZ-MSY, but frankly I see IAH being upgauged from CR7's to E75/90's first. I was actually surprised that YYZ
39 FLYACYYZ : **FLASH** Actually I jumped the gun (didn't do my research). Effective February 19th YYZ-IAH gets one E75 return flight daily.
40 ConcordeBoy : Again, thanks for this tidbit. If you don't mind, might I inquire as to the source of the information though?
41 MSYtristar : Ditto what C-Boy said. Much thanks for that tidbit. If it proves true, it would be a huge shot in the arm for our airport, city, and region. I too am
42 TIMEAIR : FYI Jazz will operate 135 jet aircraft and 52 DH8 variant aircraft by year end '06. A source indicates that there will be an additional 12 CRJ-200 air
