Hi all,

I am heading to NZ in May this year, and am going to try and see if there is a possibility of living my dream - getting a job in aviation.

Does anyone here know of how best to go about making enquiries within New Zealand based companies.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Eirjet.

Eirjet, My advice is to start having a look before you go (websites). I work for NZ
and I just applied for the position online.

What sort of job? If you are looking for engineer positions, you will be out of luck.

As mentiones, engineering jobs would not be advisable right now. I have heard that there is a demand for rotary winged pilots.

My son went the other way. He went all the way from PPL to ALTP with turbine ratings here in NZ, looked at the possibilities, and went off to UK. He is now a captain with BA and says "if I'd stayed in NZ I'd be lucky to have made it the left hand seat on a Saab by now".

NZ law states that no visitors can work in New Zealand unless they have a working permit, so its best to get that permit sorted before you arrive.
