As the front first came thru SE Florida just before midnight FLL closed for thunderstorms causing some holding and a few diversions. Had one captain on final when the squall line hit and his quote was 'we just lost the airport visually and lightning was close aboard". When they reopened the activity was on the short diagonal runway for both arrivals and departures. A second line came thru about 0500 but no real impact aside FLL went into the east to west operation and should stay that way for the next day or so.
Just wish whoever is up north and left the door open to let this cold air in would go ahead and shut it...grin.

Yeah, I was outside when it moved through here and it was quick, but fierce.

that was one helluva storm.
I've heard complaints about it being too warm in other places, SOFL has been having a cooler than average winter...although we rebound quick, the cold that we get has been bitter

Same thing up in the DC area. Winds were 310/23G34 when we departed Manassas yesterday afternoon.
My definition of cool ? Not trying so hard to be cool.
