Btw, the reason I ask is because a friend is flying LAS-CVG on the 7AM departure tomorrow morning...I'm trying to figure out where the plane is coming from and it doesn't appear to be CVG or any of the above cities.

Won't it be an RON then? I am betting that the 738 will be coming off DL1767, which arrives from CVG at 20:27. Odd that DL doesn't try to squeeze some utilization out of the LAS strong LAS redeye market.

That's what I thought at first...But DL1767 arrived at gate D40 tonight...DL 642 is leaving LAS tomorrow morning from gate D42.

They used to have redeyes to all the Song cities (before Song existed) plus TPA.

If by "tomorrow" you mean 15JAN, that aircraft came into LAS as flight 1767 from CVG. It will RON and turn as flight 642 16JAN.

Sorry for the confusion, I was looking for where the aircraft is coming from that will operate DL642 on January 15th.

Well, they will probably just move it over in the morning or change the gate prior to departure. I had an OO FA tell me on my OXR-LAX flight that my LAX-BOS flight would leave from T6 (a long walk) then I looked 10 minutes later at the departure screen and we were going from T7. Also, did they op-sub a 738 into LAS from ATL or something? That is the only thing else I can think of. Also, I still don't get why they would have that airplane sit for almost 11 hours

Yeah, same thing. I took a look at the LAS timetable and the only 738's DL is bringing in are from CVG (odd that DL is sending out a 738 to ATL but has none coming back in, must triangle from CVG)

USED to? They still do. My body clock was screwed up for a week after taking their LAS-JFK flight in December '04!

I've noticed that about Delta flights...for 40 years. Flights operated by certain aircraft types would serve a market one-way, but not the other. And since DL has always operated so many fleet types, and hubs/focus cities...it was always easy to spot.
The 747 was an example...without checking, I seem to remember a DAL-LAS flight that operated with the jumbo westbound but not eastbound.
Since then, the timetables are rife with examples of the same happening with 757s, 767s, DC8s, and L10s.

United does this also... ive noticed the following
ORD-SLC
1 CR7
1 737-300
2 A319
SLC-ORD
1 737-300
2 A319
1 A320
so as you see... on each day of the week there has to be more people leaving Salt Lake than going to Salt Lake....
