here is part 4 already!
The summary below:
All the guys which signed for the tours should bring CHF 20,-- or € 13,--
Just to repeat the plans:
We will meet at Saturday from about 9.30am on, close to the INFORMATION desk at "Check-in 2"!!!
(The entrance to the observation deck is just opposite)
Don't forget your scanners, binoculars, cameras, and depending on the weather even an umbrella or raincoats. It will be cold, bring good warm cloth.
All members of the meeting will have stickers on the jackets with the user name on it. (Birdwatching will bring the stickers) The latest possibility to join will be at 10.45 am, since all of us have to enter then the "Observation Deck B+E" to follow the planned timing.
At 11.00 am, we will be carried by bus to the amazing "Observation Deck E".
We will stay there for about one hour to watch the busy air traffic .
At 12.00 am, we will be picket up by the bus for the special arranged bus tour.
At about 1.45 pm, we will go back to the "Observation Deck B". There, we can have lunch, visit the Buchair shop and spot the air traffic.
At 3.30, we will proceed back inside the terminal building, to join the booked SWISSPORT-tour a 4.00pm: "From Check-in to the aircraft". The tour shows us what's behind the scenes:
Check-in, the luggage sorting system, the preparations of the aircraft, etc.
We will even visit an aircraft which is short before departing.
Even on this tour, we'll be able to let the tourguide know about the favorite things we would like to see. So, the tour is even somehow adjustable to A.NET guys...
At the end of the tours will be at about 6.00 pm. Then, we will go the Runway 34 Restaurant. See the list below!!! (There have been enough cars at the end as I remember)
Unfortunately the amount of people makes it necessary to do two SWISSPORT tours. (Only 25 per tour allowed...due SECURITY!!!)
Those tours will be conducted in English!!!
The amount for everybody will be CHF 20,-- or €13,00. (Would be about €16,20 if you would do all points separate)
Please bring the money if possible exact to make it easy for me...

IBERIA747, DBA4U isn't able to join the swissport tour, and I believe that spot is still open. That way, you can join in on the swissport tour, but perhaps someone pulls back this week (happens all the time @ meets).
Hope to see you in ZRH,

I will be arriving on Friday in the early afternoon. I have yet to decide what flight but I have a feeling that the LX LAX-ZRH is a bit better for me. Where can I order meals? Then departing on Tuesday in the afternoon. Please let me know.

just to remind you and repeat the instructions from the previous mail: For those that will arrive on Friday afternoon / evening, an informal get-together will (hopefully) happen from 18:00h / 6pm onwards in the
[b]Wings Lounge at Limmatquai 54[/54]
in downtown Zurich (www.wingslounge.ch). The place is a bar / lounge founded and run by former Swissair crew members and thus it somewhat reflects an aviation environment. "Currently serving the specially brewed Swiss MD-11 phase-out beer", just as an example of what I mean...
This place is located in the historic part of downtown, in a pedestrian zone closed to vehicular traffic. So it is definitely best found if you take public transport from the airport via the central station to downtown. Details see below.
I hope many of the early birds as well as local spotters among us will be joining. I will make our table / corner visible with some "A.net Meeting" sign or similar.
Directions to the Wings Lounge:
At the airport, proceed to the train station and get a return ticket from Zurich Airport to downtown Zurich, either from the ticket machine (type in "8000" as destination code) or from the counters.
This ticket is good for unlimited travel inbetween the airport and downtown Zurich, as well as within the downtown area of Zurich, for 24 hours from the moment of purchase. All means of public transport can be used at will during this time period (trains, busses, trolleys, boats, cable cars, rack trains etc.). Current prices are CHF 11.60 for an adult in coach class.
With this ticket in your pocket, board any train headed for downtown Zurich. There are roughly ten departures per hour, so you should never have to wait for more than a few minutes. If you catch a long distance train (EC, IC, ICN or IR train) you will be arriving in the main lobby of the central station downtown. If you catched a local S2 train, you will be arriving in some more remote tracks of the central station, if you catched a local S16 train, you will be arriving in an underground stop beneath the central station.
Upon arriving at the central station (announced as Zurich Hauptbahnhof or Zurich HB over the PA of the train), move forward to the head end of your train and continue to the main lobby (long distance trains, S2 trains) or use the escalators two flights up to the main level (S16 trains). In the main lobby, look for the large blue indicator showing the next departures (you can't overlook it). From there, turn to have the tracks and trains in your back, and cross the large main hall in its full length, passing the tourist information office on your way out. At the far end, exit the station building and cross the street to the center island where tram stop "Bahnhofquai" is located. Look for the sign for tram No. 4 going into direction "Bellevue - Tiefenbrunnen" and board any No. 4 going that way, using that 24 hour ticket you already have in your pocket.
Alight at the third stop which is called "Rathaus". Ca. 20m / 20 yards in front of the stop, across the street, you'll find the Wings Lounge in an old guildhouse, a mediaval building with a stone-arch arcade over the pedestrian walkway. The lounge is right under that arcade.

I think this post was going under in Part III-
Quoting Myself: Is it possible to drop the swissport tour for chrisZRH and myself?
As we already did it, and would rather stay around the airport for some pics and then directly join to the dinner. But we'll join you on the observation desk at about 9:30 or 10 o'clock.
See you then
So we (Chris and I) d'like to unsuscribe us for the tour. But we will come on the observation desk to have some smalltalks there

1) Patrick, I'm confirming the name tags, I'll have them ready on saturday, plus I'll have a couple of blank ones.
2) To make things easier for Patrick, I think all the ones who will be there 100% definitely, should add a little confirmed note to their next post. I mean, how do we know, maybe there are as many as 10 or 15 people still on that list who subscribed in october and just didn't delete themselves?
(This is for the TOURS!)
Just copy and paste the following if you're confirmed 100%:

Thanks for posting that Sam. Since I don't actually arrive in ZRH till 11.50 on saturday will it still be possible for me to join the tour at 12.00 or shall I just meet the rest of you guys after that at 1.45pm on the deck before the Swissport tour which I really want to do.
If anyone can clear this up it would be appreciated.

CONF Yukonmusher Lounge, Dinner at Rwy34 and just generally present on observation deck on Saturday.
If there are vacancies on the tour, I'll gladly fill an open seat, but as I am local, I'll yield to any visitor.
Again: Friday, just drop by the Lounge (see post above) from 6ish onwards, we'll be waiting & meeting there at least until Michael and Kaz arrive (8pm or later).
Local weather forecast for the next few days: "After some two weeks of persistent fog / low clouds, a front first brings some rain, then maybe a little snow by Thursday. Things should clear up on Friday, with a mix of sun a scattered clouds. Saturday should be a mix of sun and clouds, maybe an odd snow shower."
Looking out of my window, I see it just started snowing. That's actually not bad: The worst that can happen this time of year is a stable high pressure system causing an inversion layer that keeps the plains under a cover of fog. Any variability, winds and frontal activities can only stir things up and increase our chances for some sun! But as Patrick said: Bring winter gear, expect temparatures around freezing.
Cheers, and lloking forward to welcoming you all to ZRH
