Press release says it all. Embraer 190. This was announced quite a while ago though.

United has 8 roundtrips per day. And if you read the fine print in the JetBlue ads (you know, the little a and b after the $40 fare), you'll read that it doesn't include tax, fees, security, etc. United has exactly the same deal but with a lttle more up front disclosure of what one will actually pay.

Sure seems like alot of capacity is being added to IAD-BOS. Granted Indy pulled out, but between UAL and B6, there are more seats than before.

Flew in today from BOS and JB has taken over B-20, 22, and 24. They have vacated B-48 and 50. Now more centrally located.

Actually, don't they have to quote / print fares with all taxes and fees? There's a DOT guideline about that.

Either way, it's pretty much industry standard.

IIRC, FL dropped their proposed BOS-IAD service before they even started it.

Because of the terrible yields that would have dominated the market. FlyI's departure may make FL change its mind at some point, but I know they don't want to get into a fare war with B6.

And without B6, that fare would be more than triple. I don't mean to attack you - I'm just making a point!

In any case, I heard booking are looking good. Let's hope this works out!

I take it you are talking about at IAD, because at BOS B6 (not JB/Helijet Canada) are in C

Actually, probably not, because IAD-BOS competes on the overall BOS-WAS market, which includes DCA (which will always the be most expensive) and BWI, as well as PVD and MHT for BOS

Yea he is because they used to operate out of B48 and B50 in Concourse B at IAD and they moved into Independences old 319 Gates the night before IAD-BOS started. They will probably be able to still expand some more at IAD now with the 3rd Gate!

???? I always buy tickets online and have never had trouble getting the total cost before I purchase. I picked a LGB-JBK flight on March 15th and compared jetblue to orbitz, Jetblue broke down all of the fees pretty well:
B6 $276.60 nonstop (including $35.60 in tax/fees)
HP/US $298 one stop (orbitz doesn't break out tax/fees)

and LAX-JFK:
AS: $278
DL: $318
AA: $318

Seems like B6 is ok.

Only 3?!? I would have thought with the collapse of DH more would be available... IIRC DH had 7 mainline gates plus the 36 RJ gates.

If you look at this promo for Japan and B6's $25 promo for IAD-BOS you'll see that they tell you all the taxes you'll pay and the actual sales tax is included in the $25 fare.

From B6 (http://www.jetblue.com/learnmore/pressDetail.asp?newsId=381)
"Fares do not include Passenger Facility Charges of up to $9 each way, September 11th Security Fees of up to $5 each way and a Federal Segment Tax of $3.20 (or effective on/after January 1, 2006 $3.30) per domestic segment. A segment is a takeoff and landing."

From UA (http://www.united.com/page/article/0,6722,51093,00.html?navSource=FareSalePromo&linkTitle=FSA04_winterjapan)
(Re: Japan Sale)

Additional Taxes/Fees: Fares do not include the September 11th Security Fee of up to $10 maximum per roundtrip or Passenger Facility Charges of up to $18, which may be collected depending on the itinerary. All international fares are subject to U.S. arrival and departure taxes and agricultural, immigrations and customs fees of up to $41. For travel to some countries, additional airport, transportation, embarkation, security, duty, and passenger service taxes/surcharges of up to $140 will apply depending on destination. For return travel from some countries, fares do not include airport and/or departure taxes of up to $36, which may be collected by the foreign government.

So they are both the same, and you will find out your exact fees prior to purchasing your ticket.

UA and B6 do it the same way

Since they haven't "announced" these 3 gates anywhere - I'm guessing there is more in the works. Stay tuned.

Maybe one more but I doubt they would give all 7 to B6. They probably want to divide it up among all of them but gave B6 three for now since BOS-IAD was starting yesterday so they can get there and handle everything for now. Maybe one more for B6 and then give the others to well, others.

But if they got like 2/3 more that would be Great!!
