Interesting, I didn't realize that the chevrons on the engines which are to reduce noise, also increase drag, according to the a350 article.

Agreed. The A350 is going to be so good and priced competitively (thank Boeing) that this will kill the A330 and the A340 as new larger variants will happen!

I can see the Airbus making tons of money on the A320/A350 exclusively. But performance targets must be met, first.
