Is Monarch Interested By A350/787?

Wonder if Monarch is studying both the new products from A & B , as they still have A300-600s to be replaced , probably around 2010-2012.
Does somebody heard something about that ?

All four of Monarch's A300B4-605Rs were delivered between 1990 and 1992, so they would be around 20 years old around the time frame you suggest. However, Monarch also operates a fleet of seven Boeing 757-2T7s delivered between 1983 and 1988 which will likely need replacement before the A300s.

The problem for the charter airlines in the UK is that there is no direct 757 replacement. The 737-900ER is a little short on capacity, lifting capability and range versus the 757, ditto for the A321.

EGNR, that was an excellent comment. Monarch, I feel would like to replace the ageing 757s but there is no suitable replacement. The 321 and the 739 are short on capacity, ramge and lifting capability.

For example, Monarch often use the 757 on the MAN-GIB route where loads exceed the 320s capacity but they cannot use the 321 as it would be payload restricted out of GIB. Therefore they do need a larger aircraft like the 757 with good field performance.

Also the 757 is often used on longer routes like Sharm El Sheikh, Eilat and Banjul which would be very tight for the 739 or 321.

What do you mean you dont have any bourbon? Do you know how far it is to Houston? What kind of airline is this???

Surely many of the BA 767s are of similar age to the A300s anyhow!

Are these aircraft ones that are currently on lease to Qantas? Monarch now have 763 operating experience through G-DIMB (ex-MYT). Maybe the 763 has seriously impressed them? Could they be looking at the 763 instead of more used A300s because of FedEx and other cargo cariers pouncing on any available A300, and because they know they can get a good price on the BA 763s due to their 'undesirable' engines in the wider market?

Being RR powered, they are an oddball fleet (the only other airline to order them was China Yunnan I believe), so they may be troublesome for BA to dispose of - the failed RAF Tanker bid using the BA 763 fleet was one option, but it lost out to the A330.

The bulk of BA's 763 fleet is of a similar age to the MON A306 fleet, with most being delivered between 1990 and 1993.

How much commonality is there between the RB211s on MON's 752s and the BA 763s? I can't remember if the RR engines on the 763 are more closely realted to the 744 ones, or the 757 ones...

However, there was a thread on here some time ago saying that ATA were looking for RR powered 763s, but the rare airframe/engine combo was making them difficult to source...

I had also heard about the possibility of more Boeing 767s. Interestingly enough though, Monarch Aircraft Engineering, on their website list overhaul of 767s with GE or PW4000 engines, not RR. Read into it what you will, I guess it wouldnt be hard for Monarch to quickly become rated for the RR versions as well, and I'm sure BA would assist.

Monarch's 757s are old, some of the oldest out there. I believe Monarch operate both the highest flying hour and highest sector 757s. However, Monarchs 757s are still very reliable aircraft which is a testament to Monarch's Engineering. The 757s don't owe the airline much now, I guess Monarch will keep them as long as possible, as long as they're running fine I guess they've got a good few years in them.

The A320/1 is the way to go for short haul, but for a certain number of routes there just is no 757.

On a recent interview on Radio 4 programme You and Yours the guy from Monarch said they would probably order some A350/787s within the next few years.
