Quoting LeonB1985 (Reply 1): " Tanzania is one of the poorest countries in the world" according to the CIA's "World Factobook" website...
Yes !!! This Plane caused a lot of Noise and Anger both in the parliament and the media, no one listened, they went ahead and bought it anyways. There is a perfectly fine and functional F-28, nothing wrong with it at all. Heck, who cares, the Legislature did not even table a bill for this useless purchase.

At least it has a neutral registration. The F.28 is registered 5H-CCM. CCM is the ruling party. But the plane belongs to the State of Tanzania, not the party that was elected at the last (and every) election. I always thought that was giving a shocking and utterly disgraceful two fingers to even the pretence of democracy.
And, no, Tanzania didn't need and - in reality - cannot afford such a crass status symbol. But what did that ever have to do with it?

Just what Tanzania was lacking - a brand new G5! I wonder if the Gulfstream folks who approved the bribes sleep well at night given the number of children in Tanzania that die of starvation. Nice plane yet totally disgusting set of circumstances.
