The press release came out this morning, but I didn't see anything here. Looks like UA announced new routes ORD-PVR and LAX-CUN, both of which will eventually be daily. The press release says three other Mexico route applications are still pending, ORD-CUN, LAX-PVR, and LAX-SJD.
There have been so many applications for Mexico flying lately, not sure if these are recently awarded flights, or a re-release of older news.
Anyone know who UA beat to get these route authorities?

As did I, I was thinking we have to ask to fly to New Mexico now?

Quoting Jsposaune (Reply 4): Ha Ha...I did the same! I thought "great...mainline service to Roswell and Hobbs!!!"
LOL, I thought the same when I read this. Look out, Mesa!!! YV would have to drop prices on their Beech 1900 flights Maybe the locals could actually afford to USE the air service at that point...unfortunately, YV's ticket prices make air travel out of the reach of most small town New Mexicans, so they have to drive hours to ELP or ABQ to catch a flight.
I lived in LRU for 8 years...never understood how YV could get away with their outrageous ticket prices on the Beech 1900 flights. The LRU service died YEARS ago...(of course, LRU is only 1 hour from ELP driving time).

Well its about time they expanded their Mexico service. But good to hear UA will be flying on these routes.
ORD-PVR is only once a week?!? You would think they would do that at least twice weekly. Same thing goes for LAX-CUN. I'm sure they will increase frequencies depending on how well the routes perform.

Hehe, I didnt get confused on the title. I was expecting to hear that UA got the Chicago-CUN authority, which wasnt the case And I hope Frontier gets this authority. There is too much ORD-CUN service already.

Hey, why doesn't UA or anybody apply for SAN-CUN? Must be the largest market out there without flights to Cancun. TIJ dosen't have flights to CUN either...what gives?
