Here are the 10 firmed up + 2 option

GECAS must be the lessor that ordered 4.

- n1786b

PARIS -(Dow Jones)- European commercial aircraft builder Airbus (ABI.YY) Wednesday said Spanish airline Air Europa has firmed up its order for 10 A350- 800 aircraft plus two options that was signed at the end of December.

Air Europa will also lease three A350s from leasing company GECAS, Airbus said.

Airbus didn't give a value for the Air Europa order, although the catalog price for an A350-800 is around $150 million.

Air Europa's A350s will be powered by Genx-1A engines...

Excellent news for the A350 program. This order has been long awaited to be firmed up. Congratulations to both Airbus and Air Europe.

Very interesting. Looks like Gecas have already found a home for 3 of their 10 A350 on order.

Actually it should not be Gecas. They still have to firm up their original A350 order. Now that Air Europe are going to lease 3 these should be firming up their order soon. I would expect those 4 A350 order to be for another leasing company. I would lean towards an order from SALE.

OK, the ten for Air Europa are not yet on the Airbus sheet, and GECAS doesn't have any on the sheet either. If non of those 13 planes belongs to the "undisclosed" section, then the A350 stands at 100 firm orders now!

The December order for 10 A350s for "Undisclosed" must be the Air Europa order - the press release says it was signed in December. GECAS has "commitments" for 10, but has yet to firm up.

This is not a new or additional order.

As at 31/12/05 the firm orders were (in date order):

CIT Leasing - 5
US Airways - 20
Alafco - 12
ILFC - 12
Kingfisher - 5
TAM - 10
Eurofly - 3
TAP - 10
Undisclosed - 10 (now known as Air Europa)

Total = 87

Other commitments:

Qatar - 60
Finnair - 9
Bangkok Airways - 6
GECAS - 10
Unannounced - 4

Total = 89

Total orders and commitments (including 4 unannounced) = 176.

No Thorben, Airbus already lists those 10 A350 as an undisclosed customer. This order was placed in December 2005.

Gecas on the other hand have a MOU with Airbus for 10 A350. This particular order is not firmed up yet.

Airbus has also spoke of an order from a leasing company for 4 A350. I lean towards an order from SALE.

means that GECAS firmed up three? Bringing it to 90?

Seems our assessment of the order booking's in December was correct Scbriml. The good news out of this announcement is that the first to commit to the A350 has "firmed" up their order and secondly, we get an insight into whom some of the Leasing Co's are signing up to place their frames with.

43 A350s have been commited to by Leasing Co's, it will be interesting to see whether any other carriers who have announced, but still pending orders, will announce additional frames via Leasing Co's such as we've seen today with Air Europa. I know that only leaves QR, AY and Bangkok Air though perhaps Air Madrid, may order 10 and Lease 5, just a thought.

Anyway, nice announcement to start the year for the A350 program and to have another undisclosed order identified.

Gecas is still a MOU but it should be firmed up quite soon especially after Air Europa are leasing 3 from them. The 3 A350 should be coming from their original order of ten. Put it this way Gecas have already found a home for 3 of their 10 A350 on order.

Its also possible that Gecas will be increasing their original order in light of this.
