While Taxiing 2 Planes Got Stuck In Snow In IST

According to the Turkish daily newspaper Milliyet, an Emirates Cargo A310, and a TK 340 were stuck in snow. As of this morning 28 cm. of snow is on the ground and many flights cancelled, but snow is expected to taper off today. The article says TK 340 "Aydin" was on its way to BKK with only 139 passengers, and they were taken off the plane, fueled dumped to free the plane.
I would have thought the load factor to be better during this cold spell. Is this normal for this flight?

The question should be: how much did each passenger pay? If they paid $1,000 each - and I very much doubt it - then the yield would be fantastic. If they paid $200 each - and I very much doubt it - then the yield wouldn't necessarily be that good (I don't know the BE point or anything so can't comment more specifically).

A quick look at travelocity IST-BKK on TK is $855. Not bad, huh?

Also, I suspect a relatively good proportion would be connecting enroute (connecting fares are ordinarily less than point-to-point fares). However, LHR to BKK with TK is normally one of the more expensive options.

As far as I know, people on this route don't buy their tix at bucketshops or ethnic travel shops. And I think this is a very reasonable fare, except the return is a redeye.

Almost all SE Asia-Europe flights are redeyes. Leave very late evening (midnight) and arrive very early morning (4-5am), or leave very early morning (1-2am) and arrive early morning (5-6am).
