I was looking to book a business assocaite from JNB to IAD in June. I looked on the SAA website, and if I had a South African credit card I could get the ticket for about US$1,600.00. I called UA and asked them to price the exact same flight and have the ticket issued through UA. The price they came up with was over US$ 5,000.00. UA could not understand the huge difference. Can anyone explain the huge difference?

I had the same experience with CO, if you book on their website a ticket AMS-EWR it first quotes you USD 7k but if you then change your billing address to the Netherlands, it comes out at just under EUR 2k.
