dont know if you might find this interesting but I was at a company funtion on Friday and met a chap whos pretty high up at SAS.
He was telling me how SAS do plan to go back to BHX from ARN and have been given the go ahead to purchase a regional jet and/or a short haul minibus like the 319...
The clause is, is that they first must get back into the Black and out of the Red..once this has been acheived they are looking at new Airbus and he also advised me that the Embraer name has been thrown into the pot also.. especially the 190... interesting I would say, I think from the sounds of it they may be trying to concentrate on European routes for a while.
They're also looking at code sharing with City Airlines on their popular GOT routes from BHX and MAN...

I think the 319 has already been confirmed. It was originally meant to be more 321s but i think the management feel that they would have too much excess capacity, so they down-sized to 319s, but im sure someone who knows a bit more will confirm this for us?
This would be a great step forward for SAS, any word if any of those would operate the LHR because the operate the MD-80's and occasionally the 737
Im thinging they would be possibly deployed on shorter ex Braathens sectors and maybe the routes from Stavenger and Bergen into Northern England...
I doubt you'll see them operating an ARN or CPH service into LHR though I could see and off peak OSL service being rotated between one of the smaller jets.
The chappy from SAS did say about the 321's being a little bit too much capacity for their routes and dont forget they also have their new-ish 737's

I'll have to try and get a flight on an MD80 quickly. SAS could already start training pilots for the A319s on their A321s because IIRC they are common type rated.
Would SAS operate the CRJ200? What about SAS commuter flying some CRJs?
